Permadeath tokens

With the new rules in place, I'm re-proposing earlier idea:
- A character is free to request perma-death token. (could be a feat, could be an item in inventory), which marks characters as "perma-death" character. The token cannot be removed.
- Permadeath character cannot be rcrd.
- Once permadeath char is killed N times, it is gone for good. Could be deleted straightaway, or just locked in nexus. Doesn't matter if it was a death due to a lag, due to a bug, or whatever - once death is registered N times, character is gone and cannot be raised.
- While permadeath character is active, it'll be getting small amounts of xp at regular intervals, as long as it is online, not afk and not dead.
The idea is based on Arelith's Mark of Despair/Destiny system. While I hated my Arelith experience, I think those two ideas were quite good.
On arelith the character was getting 20 xp per in-game hour, as long as it remained alive.
I have no opinion on how being raised would interact with this system. It could either still count towards permadeath limit, or being raised wouldn't decrease the limit.

Out of curiosity, why? You can use your own discretion to delete a character without RCR xp transfer and we have rp xp already which you net a nice 20+ every few minutes.
What does this add to the server?

I played it on Arelith, and that felt nice. Gave your character a new perspective on situation, encouraged to act in safe and sane manner, without charing in to slaughter every monster in the area (being the only survivor of a party wipe as a level one permadeath character was fun).
And no, it is not the same thing when you "get to choose" whether you're deleting your character or not.
Also, it is one more way to avoid the awful quests on the surface.

I would like that option too - it would really bring much more excitement to the game.
Iis there a way to add a permadeath choice at character creation ?

Nothing like marking a PC HARDCORP and dying in the most simple of areas........I love this idea. I like a permadeath PC they are fun and really are hard to level up. You always make a dumb mistake in the name of better loot or I am almost through this dungeon.......Plus saying if you want Perma death just do it yourself does not work. There is kind of a reason Diablo and other games have the option so they force it for you!

Arelith handled it as an item you can't drop.
The same could be done here.
It could also be turned into a feat. Item is probably a better choice.
It should be trivial to implement, aside from that "bonus xp per hour" part (which should be fairly simple too).

Could be done either way.
"DeathCounter" could be increased either when you get killed (meaining, raise or no raise, you're one more step closer to permadeath), or when you talk to murkyl and ask to be sent back (meaning if someone raises you, you're safe).
Somehow first option (when you lose a life regardless of being raised) sounds more fun to me. Also, for extra fun both options could be implemented at once. Meaning you lose a life when killed and one more when you ask to be sent back.
Meaning you can survive 10 deaths if someone raises you every time, and only 5 if nobody ever helps you.

What about treating the PC like a wand that is recharged? every time you die the percentage that you will not wake up goes up? Could start with a low number say 5% rise each time? Then as the system grows and people get used to it could raise it to say a max would be 15%? Of course if you make it exactly like the wand system 20% per death I think most people would only live twice.....those wands break at 40% like 100% of the time! Ha ha reminds me of a joke........

Theres a decided difference between choosing and having the choice taken from you. You will be compelled to comply with a token, which makes it more tense.

I played a toon on a permadeath server for 4 months. Got killed by a dire badger in one hit crit. I have not gone back to that server since. Just saying......

Nice idea, or you could lose a con point on each raise.
or create an optional, free feat permadeath on char. creation.
