New mushroom quest

Unread post by NegInfinity »

I gotta say that location of mushrooms in the new mushroom quest is downright devious.

I usually play in top-down view, and a lot of time objects on ground in this area are completely blocked by the trees. I still haven't found the last mushroom.

I think the quest could use some of the following changes (just some of them):

1. Adjust quest so survival check would help to find mushrooms.
2. Reduce number of mushrooms required to complete it (to 5 or 6).
3. Increase xp reward (by something like 4 times, which would justify dealing with this)
4. Add an option to murder Basil afterwards.

Before having to do with the quest I would shout "Booo, dont be such a noob"

After spending a hour trying to do that quest I salute option 4 and would call anyone a hero for attempt.

The first time I did this again I was completely lost. Roamed around for about 40 minutes until I found the 1 mushroom I missed. They are pretty hard to find.

I don't know if its a bug or intended, but if you wait for a server reset you can repick the old ones.. Maybe they grew over night?

Come on, it's not so difficult.
The only difference is, you now have to actually search the mushrooms and not run the circle with your eyes closed, like before.

It is probably a bug, but increasing number of mushrooms in the forest would also work. Why is there EXACT required number of mushrooms there anyway?

Read the part about trees blocking items on teh ground.

As far as I can tell good option would be to burn down the whole forest (so the trees don't get in the way anymore), find remaining mushrooms (or what's left of them), poison them and then feed them to basil.

At the very least the quest could do a survival check and give you more than one mushroom if your survival skill is not zero.

I did this the other day with my dwarf battlerager and all I could picture was him proceeding to chop down the entire forest looking for the mushrooms. I proceeded to RP it as such, even though I was alone, for my own amusement and to counter my frustration, lol.

I feel like this or lowering the total amount that you need to gather makes the most sense. There is no reason that Basil would know the exact amount of mushrooms that can be gathered from Sharp Teeth as he never even leaves his kitchen!

It should be noted, some cannot be picked up as a druid in treant form. I was too big to navigate close enough to get them.
