Multi-RCR

Idea:
Allow sacrificing multiple characters to RCR bot.
XP still can only be withdrawn all at once, and penalties/caps still apply.
Reasoning:
That would be a better way to clean up shelved characters.

Couldnt someone create 20 "false" pcs, get them to 3k xp from quests and then RCR all of them into one high level pc?

Too easy to exploit.

I have hard time believing someone will be able to keep running quests for 60 hours without going nuts. One quest run takes 2 hours.
Also, getting to the incredibly powerful level 11 can be faster without this stunt.
Either way. Suggest a counter measure instead. I wouldn't mind if quests were removed completely, were one-time or were tied to cd-key and not a character.

Perhaps if it adjusted to use a penalty that matches the level stored for the penalty to experience it could work.
Basically if you put 1k exp in but already have 18 levels worth of experience in there the 1k exp would be reduced as if it was given up by a level 18 character. Only the first batch of experience placed in the RCR bot would receive normal penalties. It would make attempting to abuse it far less worth while, but should still work for the original goal.

Simplest way around the 'exploit', instead of giving a fixed % make it like a%XP - b. 'b' might be 3000, or whatever is deemed a sensible margin. Possibly 'a' could be adjusted from the current 50% to balance.

I believe this is already automatically handled by RCR system. IIRC Endelyon said that xp reduction calculations are done on withdraval not on deposit. Meaning that once amount of accumulated xp goes over level 10, penalties will start to kick in, regardless of how you acquired it.

The penalty happens on the character that is removed, not the character that receives it. So it's not about accumulated XP, but amount that is being stored.

Ah, so the mechanism changed? (I hope it takes ecl into account)
I would not mind if penalty was applied to additional xp - as if you were sacrificing character with total amount of xp you store.

Not that I am aware. What happens is (as I understand it - bear in mind I am not a dev with insight to into the scripts, and this is mainly my experience with how it seems to work) the RCR bot sees how much XP the character you are deleting has. It takes that XP and divides it in two, then stores it. When you make a new character you can withdraw all of that XP up to the amount necessary for reaching level 20 with that character (so it takes ECL into account, as far as I have seen). Whatever goes above that cap is lost.
For instance, if you RCR just-dinged level 30 human, it stores 217500 XP. That can be reclaimed by a new human who will cap out at 190000 XP or for instance a drow, who will cap out at 231000 (which is higher than the stored XP). This places the human at level 20 or drow at level 19 with 7500 XP over the level requirement for 19.

Someone already mentioned how accumulating XP can be exploited. I'm a little bit curious about the intention behind the suggestion myself. Is the idea to have several level 10 characters, RCR them to an accumulating pool and then make a level 20?

Deathgrowl, this information is completely incorrect.
See RCR mechanic changes.
Right now RCR ffor level 10 and below is free, past that point you start getting 5% penalties for every level.
When RCR was about to be re-enabled there were multiple posts (I won't be able to find them down) which said that calculations are performed on xp withdrawal.
Once again, since I don't have access to scripts, I don't know how exactly the bot works.

I have decent number of lowbie characters I accumulated which I never play. The idea was to merge them without completely losing the effort that went into making them.

Apologies. I should have been more clear about what I meant here. My explanation is on how I percieved them to work prior to the scaling change. I am however pretty sure that the scaling happens on the character that is deleted rather than the one that picks up the XP afterwards. So as you say a level 10 can store 100% of its XP, while a level 12 can store 90% of it. And then above 20, it works as I explained. If indeed that is how it worked.
But as I said, I don't know exactly how it works. Maybe Endelyon can explain.

DG, I put an XP table in the QC discussion of this topic with the total XP transferred. Perhaps you could quote it here (since I'm taking a hiatus from QC atm)?

As I said, I think someone who knew how the system works said that scaling happens on withdrawal. I think it was done in RCR-related thread in general section.
Either way, I might look for the link later.
