Flat-footed the whole round?

Unread post by Steve »

Question: say in a round in which an opponent catches your PC flat-footed, and has 6 attacks per round, is your PC considered flat-footed for all 6 attacks, or simply the first flurry (or 2 attacks)?

Considering sneak attack, it would mean that the attacker w/ SA would either get 2 attacks in with SA, or all 6, when coming out of stealth. Unless, as I understand/misunderstand it, Improved Uncanny Dodge would prevent all but the first flurry from landing SAs against your PC (if your PC has the reqs. when utilizing Imp. Uncanny Dodge).

Then of course there is the Death Attack + Manyshot issue, which may or may not be different in considering flat-footed/Imp. Uncanny Dodge mechanics—does that translate into 4 arrows of DA in the first flurry when flat-footed?

flat footed from a stealth sneak attack, be it hiding or some form of invisibility, only applies to the first flurry, the flurry depends on BAB and total number of attacks - example, my hin has PTWF and like 24 BAB with 10 attacks, her opening flurry is 4 sneaks but if she had 26 BAB it would be 6

the only way to make someone flat footed for an entire round and get sneaks constantly is feint, paralysis, or stun - daze does not render anyone unaware of their surrounding so does not allow sneaks

Each round is divided in to 3 flurries, so with 10 APR it would be 4 / 3 / 3... With 12 it would be 4 / 4 / 4 (so you wouldn't get 6 sneak attacks by increasing APR to 12). However, when you use haste to hit 13 APR, or otherwise when you reach 13 APR you get a 5th attack in the first flurry.

If you are feinted than all the attacks for that round will be sneak attacks/gain flanking/flat footed bonuses.

Okay, I'm showing my ignorance here, but isn't the attack round flurries in three, so a single weapon is 2/2/2 if BAB 26 or higher. A PTWF of BAB 26+ would be 1H: 2/2/2, 2H: 2/2/2. So, from stealth/flat-footed attack, it would be 4 attacks in the first flurry always, and, also if you are BAB 21–25, which would be 2/2/1, 2/2/1, right?

Now, let's talk range attack and Manyshot: its 2 arrows per the first 3 attacks. So, with a BAB of 26+, that would be, in counting arrows using Manyshot 2 + 2 / 2 + 1 / 1 + 1. Since attacking out of stealth, STILL, only the first flurry should count for SA/DA, and that is 4 arrows being applied (and 2 more Manyshot arrows will attempt in the first attack of the second flurry. Right?

This is why Death Attack using Manyshot from HiPS is so deadly: it is 4 attacks attempting to Paralyze your opponent. And, as I've experienced it, if an assassin re-enters HiPS, they can attempt to paralyze the opponent again, even thought that opponent is in Combat mode. This what I've experienced, and well...it was harsh!! 8-)

No, it's not.

How it works is that main hand attacks go first and then the off-hand; and with 10 attacks you'll go 4-3-3, so it will be M-M-M-M/M-O-O/O-O-O.
Life is far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about it

This is how I understood the mechanic as well.
