Archmage SLA and Arcane Fire

Hello,

I am creating my build for my PC here and it will have 4 levels of Archmage. My PC will be emulating a Knight of the Weave in his RP, but Im not claiming the official title as the organization has not been established yet in this servers timeline. The CL for the intended gish build will be 30 without any spellpowers from the AM class. My questions are:

1) in order to imitate the Knight of the Weave's Spellfire ability, Ill be taking Arcane Fire from Archmage. My PC is an armored gish until I get the auto stills in. does arcane fire suffer from spell failure?

2) I want to take a SLA for the second Archmage feat. RP wise, I was thinking teleport. But is there another more mechanically beneficial choice for a gish anyone can recommend? I read somewhere not to take Mords as you cannot counterspell with it if it's an SLA.

Thank you for your time.

EDIT: I understand Archmage isnt available for multiclassing with other classes yet but the PC is new and I intend to take AM at level 18 so there is alot of time before that happens.

Teleport still has a 30 minute cooldown, so for an SLA, you won't get much use out of it.

Lesser Mantle would be a good one since you'll get three uses per day as a decent 'oh @#$%' button when an enemy caster is about to send something nasty at you. Shades would get two uses per day allowing for basically constant +4 AC, +8 save vs. spells, and Premonition. If I were thinking gish I'd be considering these two as Shades gives you free reign to take other level 8/9 spells which is nice and the Mantle is a really good protection against some of the worse save or x spells caster bosses might throw at you.

Thank you Steve and chad878262.

I like the idea of choosing spell mantle. It's reminiscent of the semi permanent "old school" mantles I read about in novels. Interesting selection.

Anything on whether arcane fire suffers from armor spell failure?
