Suggestion: better scaling of dead walk invocation

hi,
i'll be quick; i think that dead walk at the current state is quite useless after level 22 ( pure warlock ) i would suggest to add a further step for "epic warlocks" ( so people that have at least more than 21 warlock levels ) to make that invocation be really useful ... for example it would be nice to have one of those vampires that duregars casts ... random every cast between the melee vampire and the caster ( warlock ? ) vampire ... it shouldn't be difficult to implement i suppose
...
finger crossed

thanks ! i think it should not become pretty useless once in late epics but instead become one of the good one to pick

summon should stay at it is now,
but perhaps roll between 1-2 summons at time will made this spell more reasonable. Second summon will be apply with higher CL (25+).

well a second minion instead of a power bump of the minion also will make this invocation more effective

Have you looked into summon shadow demons invocation? It calls multiple creatures.
CGU (Create Greater Undead) that duergars cast is among the most powerful summoning spells. It is possible to clear high level areas with those vampires (even though they're only level 14..16 or so). Giving infinite supply of vampires to a warlock sounds like an overkill.

i plan to look in to that one invocation but it has been told that deamons stats are not so good considering that is a dark invocation
also its quite tight the dark invocation slots considering that at least 2 of them are nearly a must ...
but as someone else suggested even a "couple summon" could work ....

I'd be fine with vampires, but they don't make sense RP wise for warlocks. They are highly effective mostly because of buffs (and immunities) and warlocks have nothing to offer that route.
I'd welcome improvements for the dead walk series. Two at once in the epics sounds like a nice suggestion. I'd make eldritch master open up the ability to summon two of them.

Well, power-level wise "infinite vampires" are more suitable for a Dark invocation.
"Dead Walk" is lesser invocation with equivalent spell level of 4, and characters can gain it at level 6.
"Create Greater Undead" (which summons vampires) is 8th level arcane spell which characters gain at level 16.
They shouldn't have equivalent power.
Besides there are only two extremely useful dark invocations which are dark foresight and dark premonition. So you should have a free slot left anyway.
Also, given nature of warlocks, it makes more sense for their spells to provide meatshield, because a warlock has infinite number of them.
On other hand, Dead walk is an equivalent of Animate Dead spell with limited duration:
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/animateDead.htm
Which has no restriction on HD whatsoever aside from HD being limited to 2x of CL of the caster. However, original Animate Dead requires a corpse, AND power of resulting creature is determined by HD of the corpse.
Regardless of the type of undead you create with this spell, you can’t create more HD of undead than twice your caster level with a single casting of animate dead. (The desecrate spell doubles this limit)
The undead you create remain under your control indefinitely. No matter how many times you use this spell, however, you can control only 4 HD worth of undead creatures per caster level. If you exceed this number, all the newly created creatures fall under your control, and any excess undead from previous castings become uncontrolled. (You choose which creatures are released.) If you are a cleric, any undead you might command by virtue of your power to command or rebuke undead do not count toward the limit.
So, to summarize.
I'd be all for your proposition if the spell required a corpse, and resulting creature was based off the corpse (while still being restricted to zombies and skeletons), as pnp version is supposed to work. In case if it is "infinite vampires from nowhere", then such invocation should be probably made Dark, and Summon Shadow Demons would be a good candidate for a replacement.

that's not completely true ... being the Saves and SR of creature quite a problem you should also consider that you might need at least another offensive invocation that has an ESL as high as possible to bypass certain protective spells or to apply some effect ad i know that vitriolic bypass SR but if the target have acid immunity or resistance is nearly useless ( and is also EXTREMELY boring ) so i usually take an offensive dark invocation ( Utterdark for negative dmg and it reduce saves on high HP enemy making possible other effect to be applied )

is it true that you get it at level 4 but the resultant undead scales with your warlock level so you get the best ones ( the one i posted the stat earlier ) at level 21 and then there are no other steps my suggestion was to add another step like at level 24 or 25 something that give a prize to who make a warlock not to who takes some warlock dip
