Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

Hello everyone!

I am a complete noob in regards to NWN2 and this server, though have extensively played NWN and associated PW servers...which will not help here

A friend of mine who convinced me to look into NWN2 and this server is thinking about playing a ranger sort of character, so I decided to make a suitable counterpart. My thoughts are along the lines of a cleric sort of character devoted to Mielikki.

I have thought of a couple of ideas, though have no clue what might be good (meaning useful and not "Why did you try that combo you moron, unless you are a masochist?").

One possibility is a more melee focused character with 20 FS/4 Pally/6 DC. From what I have been reading though, dispels are a big pain on this server, so this character would be knowing the pain of being "naked" often?

Another possibility is Cleric 26/ Pally (or perhaps fighter or something else?) 4. I was playing with the ideas of taking the animal domain (with high wisdom for epic animal companion) since that totally seems cool and very "naturey" and travel domain, since i have no idea what the teleport spell does, but I like being able to move about quickly (sort of like traveling the trees...another "naturey" idea) and it sounds kind of cool . This character would likely be less of powerful in your face sort as compared to the first idea, but have more utility with spells.

Or perhaps there is a better idea? I really have no clue so thought I would ask the community for thoughts, opinions, whatever!

Does Mielikki allow paladin? I can't look in to this right now, but I'll respond more fully later if no one else stops by to help you out. Welcome to the sever.

Mielikki supports paladin.

FS / Pally or FS with a Cleric dip is a fine choice. Though Mielikki doesn't offer the most useful choices for a FS as far as domains go... (Though Luck is always welcome, LoH is hardly needed on a FS). You will want to make sure to get at least 26 levels of your chosen spell casting class so that you can only be dispelled by mord's/breach. So you could go FS26/P4, but with Scimitar being Mielikki's favored weapon, you should realize those are VERY expensive to obtain an epic version of (though, again, FS so you really don't need an epic version, just find one with bonus damage, cast GMW and your golden).

It should also be noted that Paladin 30 is a very balanced class that can do very well on the server. While EDM is a really strong ability there are plenty of paladins without it that still do fantastic... Going the Great smiter route or the full STR route are both acceptable. You can also go full defensive tank and take P26/MaA4. Lots of things you can do, so I would say just think about the character you want to play and roll with it!

I actually typically what you suggest at the very end and just play a character and roll with it. I likely will here too, but wanted a base idea of something "useful" as I learn the server and NWN2. Thanks again!

Your best bet is favored soul. They need no equipment nor a perfect build to be useful. You can also take levels in rogue for evasion/expose weakness or, maybe go Eldath for water domain to get evasion and edm as a fvs 27/C3. Just make sure you pick up the buff spells and you're good to go.
