Looking for some build advice

Hello BG World!

I am a fairly new (rather returning) NWN2 player, although I know NWN2 and BGTSCC are -distinctly- different with all those changes.

So I'm rolling a new character, a Moon Elf, and I was going to for something like a Ranger Archer longbow type. Sniper, maybe? I'm really useless when it comes to builds though, so if I could get some help and advice on how to build exactly, I would really appreciate that!

What I'm looking for is any prestige classes I should go with and such. Alternatives are welcome, as I'm looking to see what options I have. And also, pure Ranger - is it viable at all?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you~!

Ranger is actually perfect going ranger 30. Just get all the bow feats, and protective ward... you can go ranger assassin for a stalker type and use hips to try and and dispels, but that can be difficult... if you want HiPS indoor you can also go ranger 27/ SD3, if you like.

That just makes my life so much easier! Thank you! Full Ranger it is, I believe! It would fit the personality and style of my character, so even better.

Now, are any of the Animal Companion feats worth it at all, even as a bow ranger?

Whatever you do, don't take OOBI just yet. Its capstone feat Sharpshooting is still uselessly broken and not worth taking 10 (or in fact, any) levels in the class for. Of course that may change some day in which case OOBI would be worth consideration then. But not now.

Thank you all for the advice! I think I'm going to stick with pure Ranger for now =)

If you're going pure Ranger I would spend some Feats buffing your Animal Companion.

Theres a list somewhere on this forum, about what favored enemies you should take. I would look into that if I were you.

Seeing as I have no knowledge of the types of enemies that exist on this server, what would be the best choice for a surface elf Ranger to pick as Favored Enemies?

At 30 levels you get 6 I believe choices in FE.

Undead, Giants for sure. That will cover a good number of things you will kill. Giants also covers trolls.

For an Elf you should take Orc for RP reasons.

From there I would take Humans this covers more in DM events along with Undead.

Personally I would take the last two selections as Elves for Drow and Outsiders for the demons and devils of the world which also DMs like to use in events.

That would be my top 6 picks for Favored Enemy.

I love these choices.

I started with Orc, as you said, for RP reasons. She's from the Moonwood and that place often has orcs raiding nearby villages and such.

Once again, thank you all!

I'd say undead, giant, dragons, outsiders, humans, and lastly either reptilian or monstrous humanoids.
7 I think, you get 1 at level 1 and then 5/10/15 etc.

I think Orc is always a good choice.
