When he spoke to Marneiros, Sirion would have told him the same, unless he gets a better offer before the 23rd of Marpenoth it would be his. A letter is sent to Derik informing him that another offer is made which, while close, Sirion would rather accept.
At his earliest convenience the standing offer is brought up to date.

The standing bid is updated. Around the same time he strikes the wand off the list, noting it has been sold. Sirion then pens a letter to be delivered to Derik and steps outside the walls of the Friendly Arm for a moment to cast a sending, quickened, to inform Marneiros of the latest bid.
After all this terribly hard work he finds the nearest bench and proceeds to lie down and do nothing for hours.

After reading Silver's message, Sirion enters the inn to scribble a quick response over a glass of Jalanthar Amber. The message he leaves with Bentley and goes downstairs to inspect the conference room for the third time in days, a faint smile on his lips as he goes off in search of an outdoor bench.
"Dear Silver,
Unless I get a better offer before we meet, you have a deal."
