Will someone explain the wonkyness of this armor DR to me:

Looks like 4/- bludgeoning resistance. Piercing and slashing weapons will bypass it, perhaps?
The damage types listed after the slash are what you need to overcome it, in this case slashing and piercing.

The wording is odd though.
DR: 4 / Slashing / Piercing looks right for Bludgeoning resistance.
But the second line says "damage type" piercing, which is odd.

Posted a similar issue for a lesser swordsman belt, but haven't had a chance to test it.

Tested by wearing my belt which indicates:
Damage Reduction: 3/Piercing /
Damage TypeBludgeoning
Slashing damage from things like sharpteeth orcs and wererats showed DR 3 on each hit while damage from wild boars, giant snakes and arrows was not resisted. So it appears that the above indicates in a round about manner that DR 3 against slashing damage. This would lead me to believe that your epic UmberHulk Breastplate is DR 4 against bludgeoning damage.
