Most mobile build?

Hi,

I'm new to NWN2 and this mod. I really don't know what kind of character should I build as my first char.

Usually, I play kind of mobile classes which can kite well. Can you recommend me a class build which would incorporate a lot of mobility skills? Skills which allow me to move from one place to another to avoid direct contact with enemies. Probably a ranged-based class would be best for this kind of gameplay. Does even something like this exist in NWN BGTSCC?

Thanks! :D

You could go elf or half-elf Fighter/Assassin/Arcane Archer. Split would be F12/A9/AA9 or F12/A8/AA10 at level 30. This gives you Hide in plain sight at Assassin 8 which allows you to fire out of stealth and reenter stealth when enemies get to close.

Another option would be to build a Bard Archer of some sort which would allow for Haste and tumble to kite in a more standard fashion.

Finally you could go with Ranger 30 for outdoor hips, faster movement and long strider spell for kiting.

Thanks for the reply.

What about shadowdancer? Would it be good?

It can be, but for an archer it doesn't really bring a whole lot. Primary reason would be getting HiPS at level 1, instead of level 8 from assassin. (But remember you still need 3 levels in every class by the time you reach character level 20).

Something like Bard 14/Fighter8/ShadowDancer3/Elemental Archer5 might work, just don't rely too much on your bard buff spells as one dispel will likely strip them all. However, you would not need worry about sneak attack damage since mostly you are using your bard inspiration to get +4 attack/damage (with first level spell giving +1 to inspire courage) alongside EA's minor bonuses. It won't do a lot of damage, but the fighter levels will help by granting access to Epic Weapon Focus, Ranged Mastery and Weapon Specialization...

How about an axe hurling Barbarian with the brutal throw feat. Combines brute force, toughness and ranged attack. (You could get 3 levels of Bodyguard and he gets faster.)

Then there are the powerful crossbow sniper feats..........

A blaster warlock ........

As a new player, i would advise just start a few builds and get a feel for the mechanics and get to know the server a bit. You can then better decide, what you like to play in a long term.

Strength Bards, Fighter Types and Favored souls/Clerics are easy to start with. Arcane casters and Rogues are more difficult to start with.

If you want to be sneaky about it, speedy and nearly impossible to hit, then consider:

Monk (11), Wilderness Stalker (7), Shadowdancer (6), Whirling Dervish (6)

Not to nitpick, but isn't getting ws8 and stopping at sd5 better? One more AC? I don't think sd6 gives anything in particular?

Better Shadow Evade results at lvl 6.

Don't you play an SD?!? ;)

I do! But I didn't stop there! I play all 10 levels!

And I think that +1 permanent AC is probably more worth than the little shadow evade boost. Maybe that's just me, though.

Maybe. It's +1 permanent vs. 1.2 min/3 per day of +2 AC, 10% conceal and 5/ silver DR.

The build can otherwise max out at 52 AC without Shadow Evade, though dispelled it is at 46 (48 w/ Shadow Evade). One can never have enough AC. 8-)

With epic dodge and hips, 46 AC unbuffed is pretty good defense.

My favorite part is HiPS + Camouflage + 35% speed.

But I've always wondered how Epic Deflection + Deflect Arrows works, in tandem, or, if one supersedes the other. Neither will help if flat-footed, but still, it's pretty nice to know most ranged attacks can't touch it.

But where does the damage come from ? :?

Hard to get that with this.

For the OP, though: If you don't need stealth, the by far most mobile build is an orc cleric4/monk16/sacred fist10 with travel domain (I think it was travel - whichever gives that 10% movement speed) and the dash feat somewhere. This will be moving so fast that other characters with haste can't keep up with it.
