Location saving - does it work?
Well.. for me it does not: no option to return to where I saved at have been present for quite long time. Is it just me?

No, we all suffer from it for month now
Most of the time id does nothing.
Sometimes you get a last location, but when used it produces a 'invalid location.
And very seldom it works.

Re: Location saving - does it work?
I haven't had a saved location in a long time, except that time when it was nowhere where I wanted to be.
Also, when it does save your location, you don't always end up where it says you will. It can be on another map and even a hostile one. Heard this from others, that this is still an issue. So I avoid using it anyway, which can mean a lot of running.
I would like for it to return to how it used to be actually. It always used to save your location on a rest and PC tools never saved your location, only gold, xp & items and overall character status. This worked quite well, as opposed to current situation.

Re: Location saving - does it work?
I've picked this issue up and will be committing the change I've made today for testing.
Saving a character should mean saving it from top to bottom, including it's point of presence in the module, which is the approach I'll be taking here.
I've made a change that item enumeration is automatically saved. When an item either leaves or enters your character's inventory, a few seconds later the character automatically saves that change.Glowfire wrote:I would like for it to return to how it used to be actually. That's a reasonable conjecture, calculating a safe location may become invalid due to the presence of another object, even if that object has no collision, and will fail the safe calculated check. I've added verbosity to the logging to send along vector.x, vector.y, vector.z struct of the location saved. If a failure is noted to the player, additional information will be available to devel to view as to what occurred so we can try to mimic it further.Blackman D wrote:it sorta has been working for me, i think there was something posted about making sure you are not trying to save near certain objects, like chairs and such that are able to be used

Re: Location saving - does it work?
One thing I've noticed and maybe it has been mentioned before, but my characters never saved their location until I set a home location at one of little home location houses. Once I set it the first time anywhere, it started saving where I last rested to log into after reset. Sometimes it breaks if the server crashed but otherwise has been working pretty reliably. It does, however, sometimes state the wrong location when you talk to Mystra in the nexus but seems to go to the right spot. Just my experience lately.

Saving home location dosen't work any more at least for two my toons. At least returning to home location from Nexus no more appear as an option.

Re: Location saving - does it work?
Most of my characters save location for the most part (although the location given in the Nexus never changes anymore no matter where I end up) but one of my characters never has the option to return to their last place no matter what I do. Any way this can be fixed for an individual character?
