Anti-Magic Melody

As it is implemented currently for Dissonant Chord PrC on BGTSCC:
Anti-Magic Melody: At 5th level, a dissonant chord can use her Perform skill to negate magic. This works as Mordenkainen's Disjunctions with a cap equal to her bard level (no prestige classes count and this has a +25 max cap). This potent ability is quite exhausting to use as each time it is activated it uses four of her bardic music uses for the day.
I would like to suggest a change, either:

- let Bard progressing prestige classes count toward this cap.
Or
- let the Dissonant Chord PrC count toward the cap (at least).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the ONLY way to maximize this feat is to build a Bard 25 / DS 5. And, the Mords itself strips 6 spells from the Breach List, then, makes a DC against all spells on the Target, at a maximum DC of 25 + 1d20 vs 11 + CL of Target.

Do either of my options sound reasonable? With the 25 cap, this Fear has a 15% chance to work against a CL 30 Target, however, ONLY if you make one build (the 25/5 split).

Comments?

Both sound fine. It's always struck me as silly that the PrC levels do not do anything for the PrC ability. What logic is that? :?:

I agree with both, Although i do believe the breach aspect should be removed from both the song and spell.

I looked up, the description is wrong, dissonant chord levels count towards the cap. Other bard perstige classes are not taken into account though .. which seems silly to me. I think there is only stormsinger ?

@A: so it would not be an exact Mords, but a DC against each Spell on the Target?

@V: well, many years ago I asked Luna to have the DC levels add towards the cap, so maybe he actually did it?!?

And I'm assuming that Bard CL gained through PsC feat, also applies? Or, just straight levels?

Yea Steve but i would also suggest it gets removed from Mords xD But that's another topic. An uncapped dispel and greater spellbreach in one spell or ability is a bit much with the dispel fix.

It counts class levels, not caster level, and yes Luna probably did it !

Thanks for the responses. I would then officially request QC review allowing bard-progressing PrCs to apply to the DS's Anti-Magic Melody...and hopefully approve it.

Cheers.

*bump and check-in*

Did Anti-Magic Melody get updated to reflect stacking of Bard + Dissonent Chord + StormSinger?

Once confirmed, I can update Forum and/or the Wiki. Cheers.

Yes, however since we're setting up a new wiki, without ads, there : https://wiki.bgtscc.net/index.php?title=Main_Page I encourage you to do the wiki edits in that place. Even if everything is not completely functional yet it will be soon be the case.

It's still capped at 25 but bard + stormsinger + dissonant chord levels are counted yes.

I forgot that when writing the class but it should be taken it into account (line 56 of nw_s0_morddisj fro any dev seeing this).
