Arcane Bond

Type of feat: General
Prerequisite: Summon Familiar
Required for: None
Specifics: The character's level for determining familiar level increases by 3 up to the character's total level. For example a 10th level wizard with this feat gains no bonus, but a 5th level wizard/5th level fighter would have a companion as if they were an 8th level wizard.
Use: Automatic

Possible improved arcane bond as well, if we have improved natural bond. (an additional +3)

Just a question, but what exactly does familiar levels do for NWN2? PnP I can understand, as it gives them more tools early on.

According to the wiki, more HP, better saves, SR, and evasion. I kinda wish they acted like they did in nwn1 too, but, we can't have just yet.

As far as I can tell this would require a big amount of work. Someone would have to code a proper familiar system from the ground up because at the moment the game uses a single function that is hardcoded.

the bonuses a master gives its familiar are...
Blackman D wrote:should also be noted that for familiars they are not initial abilities, they gain them based on their masters level (sorc/wiz level)

master class level
1-2: alertness, improved evasion, share spells, emphatic link (this also allows the master to teleport to places their familiar has seen)

3-4: deliver touch spells

5-6: speak with master

7-8: speak with animals of its kind

9-10: nothing

11-12: spell resistance

13-14: scry on familiar

15-20: nothing

pg 53 of the PBH
of what they are suppose to have the only ones in nwn are levels 1-2 (partial), 3-4, and 11-12

so if you have a dip of sorc or wiz such a feat does nothing anyway and if you have a third of you class as sorc or wiz such a feat does nothing...

Code: Select all

int LevelUpHenchman (object oCreature, int nClass=CLASS_TYPE_INVALID,
int bReadyAllSpells=FALSE, int nPackage=PACKAGE_INVALID)

object oCreature
The creature that will be leveled.
int nClass
The class in which the creature will gain a level. The default value indicates leveling in the creature's first class.
int bReadyAllSpells
If set to TRUE, all spell slots will be readied (with no need to rest).
int nPackage
The package to use for this automatic level-up. This parameter is ignored if it specifies a package that is not for the class indicated by the second parameter. The default value indicates using the package selected when the character was created (in the Toolset or by the player). If no such package was selected for the given class, the default package for that class will be used.
