Rapier Animations

Is it possible to replace all of the dramatic swings when fighting with a rapier so that they use the thrust animation instead? It's gotten kind of silly that I've NEVER seen my toon THRUST with her rapier, only ever making those big, broad, spinning swings.

Its possible, just not feasible without a large amount of effort. Entirely new animation sets would need to be designed, tested, redesigned, etc. As far as I'm aware, its not exactly a cakewalk and its a bit of a lengthy process. Not sure if we have any animators on deck for this kind of project.

There's already animations for thrusting attacks with one-handed weapons in the game, I see them on Lucia all the time (she uses short sword + shield). Wouldn't it just be possible to replace the cutting attacks by having it play that even if you don't have a shield in the off-hand?

I never used a short sword before, never caught that. I suppose that might be doable, yeah? I don't know exactly about implementing animations, I only know a bit about the design after watching a friend do it.

Should be doable, though.

Consider that animations change, depending if you use a weapon one handed or with both hands. So a rapierwielding hin/gnome uses the twohanded animation.

My toon is human, so that's not an issue (though even 2H a rapier ought to be used for thrusting, like maybe with the spear animation).

Yes, I know. It's called an estoc, which is effectively what a rapier wielded by a Halfling or Gnome would be.

My point is that 1H or 2H, rapiers should be set up to play a thrusting animation.

Atlas wrote:It would be great if there was a custom menu created where you could select the combat animation set for your character.

A fencing stance with thrusts and so forth could be one animation set you can choose for one handed weapons for instance, and two handed weapons would have their own animation sets to choose from as well.

A menu with different non-combat posture animation sets to choose from would be great as well.
That would be kind of cool, a way to give each character a distinctive fighting style if we had enough animations.
