Spell Casting in the Nexus?

There seems to be certain characters that can cast spells epic or regular in the Nexus currently. I have no rhyme or reason as to why though.

I had two Wizards cast spells.. both cast just fine no impeding what so ever.

I tried my own Wizard and was unable to cast anything. ??

Spirit Shamans unable.

Cleric unable.

Sorcerer unable.

I'm confused.

One of my casters can do this.

Its a leak in the scripts bgtssc uses for the nexus. Whoever wants to fix it, give me a tell.

Also, being in nexus dispells hellfire aura which affects hellfire warlock abilities.

Yes it affects all auras and natural abilities, currently you have no choice but to go in game and Rest before doing anything at all to get them back.

It would be very nice to have nexus be an anti magic zone. So no casting can be done, including bard songs. Casting in nexus has generated visible lag on some if not many players.

Plenty of classes enter the game with out buffs on and I see no reason why any class should be allowed to.

Are people saving location in dungeons? This seams against some of the rules established about camping chests. Yes you should have to re run the dungeon and not start near a boss

Are people afraid of being pvped on entrance? This seams silly as its breaking pvp rules as you are afforded rp outs. Much more important someone is clearly ignoring guards and thus God modding. So players are protected from pvp this way.

Further where are people staring they can not rest? I do not know a single start area that is not rest enable.

Once again if it's because of last saved location there is always a near by rest point out side of the dungeon where people should be starting anyways.

For the rare super rare occasion casters should just do what all melee have to, drink a potion and run.

Please turn off all casting in nexus. It's simply causing problems that many have witness, states and recorded.

Thanks!

An idea I've been batting about regarding the Nexus is reducing it's overhead, (would need to fly on staff's desk first).

Players load into an all black area, no point light, no other models rendered, and fixed in position, the server handling it's onenter/onjoin processes.

A well designed and artistic GUI assisted by the art team with a layout of all accessible features expected from it, from here the player is then able to launch into the world. Additional buttons and navigational GUI panes supporting documentation along the way. This continues the scope that spellcasting is not an option in the Nexus, by way of cinematic holding of the character rather than anything that may break the character's features.

What about muling?

It is still allowed and I would rather see it happen in the Nexus than in the game world.

Sometimes I feel like people just get bored and want to change things.

Supporting account wide persisted storage makes more sense than this.

Always for improvement.

If the server crashes, the last saved location seems to be somewhere random that you were around when it crashed. This is unfortunate because it is typically in the middle of mobs. Kind of a pain to go back to Soubar, etc unless you risk getting killed without buffs. I'm not sure why the game is saving location when you get items or randomly. It should only save location on rest. It wouldn't be such a big issue if the game hardly ever crashed.

As I understand it, the saving on gaining and loosing items was to combat players losing items due to server crashes. Players were constantly requesting DMs to restore items on a nigh 100 percent basis because they forgot to save before a crash. The item save system significantly freed up time for the DMs once it was ruled that lost items would no longer be restored thanks to the new system.

I personally like it because, often when I'm grinding, I go into a sort of "mindless" state and I often forget to manually save. This would have lead to big XP losses should an unexpected crash had occurred. Thanks to the item save system, the most XP I've lost during a crash was less than 1000.

I'm unable to get a location anywhere. :?

The save on item accusation should only save items & xp and things like that. Not location.

But this is completely off-topic actually, should be moved into its own thread.

I'm guessing the location save function is hard coded into the general save function. Besides it makes sense. When you acquire or use an item, that is where you are at the time.
