Hierophant Advanced Divine Spell Power

Unread post by Steve »

Can someone explain to me in layman's terms just exactly how this Feat works:
Advanced Divine Spell Power
Type of Feat: Class Ability
Prerequisites: Hierophant 1, Divine Spellpower
Specifics: Available only to hierophants with the feat Divine Spell Power, the feat now uses your full turning roll to complement casterlevel and progress DC's (You can go beyond +4). You no longer suffer negative effects from rolling poorly.
Use: Automatic
Full turning roll? As in Undead Turning? Does that somehow add to CL, and then temp or permanently increases DCs...and for ANY cast spell? And what negative effects does one usually experience from rolling poorly, except, for well, failure?!?

Cheers.

Grrr. Why didn't I think of that?!?

But still, both the Forum description and the Wiki are at odds. What is this "poor rolling" part?!?

Anyway, that description says:

" If you don't cast a divine spell before your next turn, you lose the effect of the check result."

but then:

"The duration of the casterlevel addition / substraction is equal to a round * wisdom modifier. "

A bit contradictory, yes?

Also, the Wiki description says:

"roll a turning check (with a special +3 bonus, plus any other modifiers you'd normally apply to your turning check)."

Then, it gives an example rolling a 16 from a d20, and getting a +2 bonus to CL:

"For example, if a cleric used this feat and rolled a 16 on his turning check, he would add a +2 bonus to his caster level for the next divine spell he casts in the round."

However, the former states a +3 should be added, so 16 + 3 = 19, which would be an +3 to CL, actually. Add to that a CHA mod—if available—which should also count on the score.

Can we get a confirmation of how this actually works, then I will do what I can to update both the Wiki and these Forums? Thanks.

It works as it is documented (next update as there was a bug, thanks for making me look there :P )

1. check = 1d20 + CHA mod + 3 (+1d4 if sun domain, +4 if Hierophant master of energy)

2. If you have Hierophant advanced divine spell power the result above is set to 10 if < 10.

3. Check >= 22 => +4 CL
Check >= 19 => +3 CL
Check >= 16 => +2 CL
Check >= 13 => +1 CL
Check >= 10 => No change
Check >= 7 => -1 CL
Check >= 4 => -2 CL
Check >= 1 => -3 CL
Check < 1 => -4 CL

If you have advanced divine spell power you can go past the +4 cap

Check >=25 => +5 CL
Check >=28 => +6 CL
Check >=31 => +7 CL
Check >=34 => +8 CL
Check >=37 => +9 CL
Check >=40 => +10 CL

The effect lasts for n rounds where n is your wisdom modifier.

Does consecrate work with Divine Spell Power?

"Each Charisma check made to turn undead within this area gains a +3 sacred bonus"

I imagine that it would work based on the fact that DSP is making a Turn Undead Check. If someone has a Cleirc Heirophant it'd be good to check this, but I'm not sure how to go about it since I do not think you get notified of your result. If this is the case maybe Valefort would be capable of telling what it does based on the code.
