Handaxe and Throwing Axe combo build

I've been watching Vikings! Why didn't anyone tell me about this series yet?!? It's fun to watch!

Anyway, if you don't know it, lots of handaxe action, and sometimes, they get in a good throw!

On top of that, I've always enjoyed the idea of a dual-purpose build, decent in both melee and ranged. I know that isn't how NWN2 is setup, nor even how our Server is setup, in order to be mechancially viable, however...I had to give it a try.

Any comments for improvement?

while i like the build, i would use ranger and fighter only. i would use the ranger class to lift my ranged and the fighter feats to make a good sword and board. to me, that seems more viking. i am pretty intrigued by this build and curious on its playability. especially in solo work at later levels. jack of all, master of none builds usually dont work to well.

I've spent some time putting ranged/melee builds together myself. Am playing one now (Marianne). Haven't gotten her to where the throwing skills really kick in yet, but let's meet and train together IG one day. She isn't really a viking type although she does have some Lagertha traits :).

Another powerful concept I was thinking of is the following - designed for Tanarukk, but can be adapted (at some cost) for a surface race, I think. Maybe it'll give you ideas. I'd definitely consider Northlander Hewing for increasing the damage output (it fits a viking type and works with throwing weapons - at least last time I checked).

Yea, the Sword and Board aspect would fix a few things, as in free up some feats by not taking TWF and IMTF.

Why I choose Ranger to progress TWF is because GTWF requires 19 DEX, and if I decided to forgo Imp. Knockdown and took Rapid Shot, Manyshot and Imp. Rapid Shot, it does not require 19 DEX.

If you look at the stats breakdown, the build itself is mediocre in AC and DMG. Maybe with lots of hits, it would add up on the DMG side. But as we all know—or should—AC is king.

a str based build using ranger for ranged is the concept i was thinking. you could implement KD for help in the AC deficiancy. or maybe a cleric splash to aquire DS/DM for a little boost when needed.

made this with a range melee concept in mind. didnt put a ton of thought (about 5 minutes) in it so im sure there are clear flaws, but this is generally what i was thinking. and yes, i used longbow/longsword combo as i am unfamiliar about throw building.
