UD: Darkwoods CR 1 area is not CR 1

As it says on the tin.

Was told it was more around CR 6-7, maybe even higher? Casters and especially a dark gloura bard who is very annoying.

There are some very low CR spawns there too, which don't fit in with the above. The area is connected to the den which is CR 2 (just for reference).


I think if an area has a CR marked in an OOC way, it should be true. Very misleading to new players who might think that is the true CR 1 :lol:

Made a tiny svirfneblin crossbow sniper, went to "CR1" Darkwoods.

First mob I've encountered (at lv3, mind you) was a Dark One; warlock blaster with ability to invoke a shadow - he blasted at me, but ultimately his shadow crit me for a perfect one-shot and sent me to Fugue faster before I could way "this is bull **** ".

Went there just now, at lv6; my little sniper now had +7 damage from his DEX bonus; went to Den, waltzed trough it, went out and then... Devious Ghouras, with Stoneskin, all sorts of spells, Dire Wolf summons etc. Barely manageable, even with average 26 dmg on successful hit; after that, another Dark One, and he was just as hard to hit but not even close to being as hard as dark ghouras, which btw gave 44 xp. FOURTY FOUR. TO A SVIRF ECL+2 Lv6 CHARACTER. At "CR1" area.

Won't go out of my way to rage, but at least label this damn place properly so that newbies in UD don't get roflstomped and then ragequit for good.

That place is awful and something should be done about the labelling. Harol's Den or whatever it's called is appropriate CR though.

The spawns are such a mixup in CR and the devious gloura's are pretty difficult. It's an open, flat terrain area so all casters will see your character from miles away. I like the idea of devious glouras but I don't think that map is well suited.

The CR 1 Darkwoods area ties in with East of Mistlake and the Upperdarks Spawns. I implemented them around the same time. For one reason or another, the spawns keep reverting to the pre-updated spawn list. A fix was submitted.
