Urth is a reserved family man, who at first is shy around people. He is happy to let other people do the talking for him at first so that he can carefully assess the character of his company. After he has had the opportunity to size up those around him, he opens up in an appropriate manner.
This pause before speaking has allowed Urth to finely hone his ability to judge the intentions of people, and he now decides quickly whether a person is kind or malicious. Better yet, he has found his judgments have a very high accuracy. He’s a good judge of people.
Once he begins to warm up to people he likes, his sense of humor starts to appear. He likes quietly playing pranks, and speaking sarcastically.
Urth’s family values are deeply ingrained in his psyche, and his family were highly good, ethical people. Being nice to others and trying to work for the greater good comes naturally to him. Combined with his strong faith in Selune, Urth wants to be a force for beneficial change.

Background:
Urth was born the eldest son on a farm between Nesme and Silverymoon, near the Moonwood. His parents moved there from closer to the coast because they felt the area would be more secure, and that Silverymoon better represented their goodly ideals than Luskan did. The area between the rivers Subrin and the River Rauvin was perfect: Lycanthropes protecting them from orcs from the north, and two major rivers slowing down other raiders. They bought a plot of land and got to work.
Little Urth was immediately swept up in farmwork, and had little choice in the matter: If he didn’t work, he didn’t eat, and neither did his parents. After the farm became much more established and productive, Urth actually did not have to work that hard, but the momentum of the tough early days of the farm stayed with him, and he kept at it because that’s just what he was supposed to do.
Once there was an orc scare, and they were told they should evacuate. When this happened, Urth decided he wanted to learn more about his enemies, and put his mind on reading about orcs and learning their language. He hasn’t had the chance to use it yet, but it may still be of use.
The first upset in his otherwise peaceful family life was when his sister, Betha, ran away from home. The youngest brother, Ander, had demanded to know why Betha, who had done the least for the family, was entitled to the family’s savings. This prompted her to run away, leaving a note saying to give the money to Ander. The father did exactly that, but rather than allow Ander to go join the Knights in Silver as he wished, he ordered Ander to bring his sister home. He took the money and left, never to be seen again. Nobody in the family knows what happened to him, except that he did not join the Knights in Silver.
To make things even worse, just weeks afterwards, the orcs managed to mount a raiding expedition that made it past the rangers that protected the area, but not undetected. The rangers raised the alarm, and the family fled to Silverymoon. When they returned to their farm, all they found were ashes.
The parents, now too old to start from scratch, moved to Silverymoon. Urth immediately volunteered to work as a sailor to help support the family, and went down the River Rauvin doing odd jobs for river vessels, sending money back home whenever he could.
It was during these travels that he found his faith in Selune. Working on a ship on the seas, a navigator who worshipped Selune told him all about the moon goddess, and when he tried praying to her, he felt the calling: Rather than despair about his family’s condition, he would face it with the attitude of, “What opportunities does this give to me, to change for the better?” He realized that he had spent his life slaving away for duty simply because he had not looked for other options. Yes, his actions in the past were good, but perhaps there was something greater yet in store for him.
So when he landed in Baldur’s Gate, he walked straight to the Temple of Selune, and found his sister there. This was a sign, a sign from Selune of things to come.
Goals:
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Currently wants to learn more about running an Inn and ship through his workings with The Twlight Rose and the Muse. He enjoys his friends at both places and wishes to get more involved in their dealings.
