All things Sembian Fencing!

Prerequisite: DEX 13, BAB 11 (under review by QC)

From the BGTSCC Wiki: You limit yourself to two attacks per round but your AB is raised by two for every lost attack. You additionally gain a tumble skill bonus of twice the amount of attacks lost, and a dexterity bonus for every attack lost, owing to your increased attention on positioning. Additionally you do two points of extra damage when you hit.

Use:
You drag the feat onto your hotbar, so it can work with modes like flurry. However, Sembian Fencing, Athkathlan Triparite and Northlander Hewing are mutually exclusive.
Hidden: show
Because they don't stack it's unlikely a character would take more than 1 of these feats. That said, if for some reason Athkathlan is active when Sembian is clicked, the Athkathlan buffs are automatically removed (although the combat log does not show this). If Athkathlan was then clicked a player might think this would turn the Athkathlan buffs back on and automatically remove the Sembian buffs, but it actually leaves you with both feats deactivated. So you can think of each button as it's own toggle switch with an auto-deactivate tacked on. Again, doubtful many would have more than 1 of these feats so making this clearer would probably be a poor use of developer time.
Lost Attacks:
This is based purely on BAB. With 26 BAB, you would keep your 2 highest attacks and lose your 4 lowest to gain a +8 AB. WIth Greater Flurry, this all stays the same. You gain +8 AB to your 2 hightest attacks PLUS the extra flurry attacks. I expect fighting with 2 weapons would work the same way.

Notes:
DEX AB & EB from items do not stack with Sembian Fencing.
The in-game description incorrectly states it buffs BAB.
Sembian buffs are bugged from 11 BAB to 15 BAB (3 attacks). Instead of +1 DEX and +2 AB/Tumble, it gives +5 DEX and +10 AB/Tumble.
My experience with Unarmed Strike differs from quality control's feedback in the forums. While the Character Screen displayed the increase to AB like equipped weapons, closer examination of the combat log showed Unarmed Strike's AB unchanged.

From JEGs it looks like Sembian also has a prerequisite of +11 BAB. Athkathlan appears to need +16 BAB. So unless a character has a very high BAB and can squeeze Athkathlan in right before level 20, it is an epic feat. Trading attacks for 2-3 AC/dmg could be powerful. Curious if our developers were thinking along these lines, or if the undocumented prerequisite is unintentionally high.

From testing in JEGs the Sembian buffs looked to be bugged for 3 attacks. Seemed be be correct from 16 BAB and up so did not bother testing it beyond 21 BAB.

11bab 5dex 10ab 10tumble
12bab 5dex 10ab 10tumble
13bab 5dex 10ab 10tumble
14bab 5dex 10ab 10tumble
15bab 5dex 10ab 10tumble
16bab 2dex 4ab 4tumble
17bab 2dex 4ab 4tumble
18bab 2dex 4ab 4tumble
19bab 2dex 4ab 4tumble
20bab 2dex 4ab 4tumble
21bab 3dex 6ab 6tumble

I've taken this feat at level 12 with 12 BAB. My ranger has 6 apr but I don't get any AB or any tumble bonus with the feat activated. The only thing I get is a DEX bonus and a +2 dmg bonus.
Am I missing something? I should get +8 AB but this is not the case...
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The number of lost attacks used to calculate your bonus is based purely on your BAB. So things like Greater Flurry or fighting with 2 weapons wont increase your bonus. So with a BAB of 12 that would be considered 3 attacks. So the feat would tally 1 lost attack which would gain you a +2 AB. But AB does not stack with items, so if you have a +2 weapon then your AB would not change.

Not sure why you are not getting a +2 tumble bonus though. So for most builds feats like Athkathlan or One Hander are probably better.

I didn't know that. Thank you so much for your help! ^_^
Maybe I'm still in time to change it...

JEGS doesn't have some of the recent changes. I believe Valefort removed the BAB requirement from both Sembian Fencing and Athkatlan Triparite.

Was based purely on BAB is more correct ! Should be corrected with the last update.

Noticed the melee feats were updated today. Were Sembian and Athkathlan updated as well?
One hander changed to "One Weapon" and benefits lowered to : If you are fighting with one weapon and carrying nothing in your off hand, the One Weapon feat enables a combat style in which you narrow your profile and situationally attempt to dodge, deflect, and dish out attacks. While the style is active you gain +1 dodge AC in combat. (and only +1, was 2)

If you possess the Feint feat its cooldown will reset freely once in a twelve second period. If you roll a 17 or higher during combat (unrelated to attacks, secretly rolled) you perform a tumble skill check for one of several one handed maneuvers.

You may perform an acrobatic dodge (+4 tumble, +1 dodge AC two rounds), a weaving assault (+d4 AB two rounds), insightful footwork (+2 dodge AC one round), a deflecting sweep (1 Deflection AC, +1 for every ten parry ranks, two rounds), or an off-hand swap (+4 bluff, feint reset).

Northlander Hewing works on an heartbeat fashion like One Weapon, attack count is more accurate and bonuses tied to STR as well.

Combat Focus cooldown lowered to 210 seconds, was 300.

Only the way the number of attacks was counted was changed regarding Sembian and Athkatlan so far.

Does the March JEGs demonstrate this new change?

I'm not 100% certain but I think it does.

Just tested Athkathlan Triparite with Greater Flurry in JEGs and can confirm that the basis for the number of lost attacks has indeed changed. 3 attacks are now performed when both Athkathlan and Greater Flurry are turned on. Not necessarily better for my character. Thought I'd use Athkathlan in boss fights, trading my worst 2 attacks to gain +2 AC while still having halfway decent offense.

Looks like the BAB prerequisites have been removed in JEGs. Is the same true for the live server?

Are One Weapon and Sembian Fencing mutually exclusive?
