EDM Paladin/Rogue of Kossuth
As the server is down at the moment, I was thinking and working on a rather basic EDM paladin build with evasion...
Here it is:
http://nwn2db.com/build/?259431
Any input for amelioration, as always, is appreciated.
My thoughts for now:
Switch dodge/ blind-fight for shield-specialization heavy?

Re: EDM Paladin/Rogue of Kossuth
Paladin Rogues never go well both RP wise and gameplay wise. Rogue's get a lot of skill points due to their 8 SP per level, but the Paladin get 2 SP per level and can't keep up with most of the rogue's best skills. Sure you get sneak attack and evasion, but sneak attack isn't very Paladin like since they fight fair and you can get evasion from Cleric. Hell, you can get evasion from monk, but that's just me.
Anyway, I haven't taken a look at the build yet, but I believe it's a utility dps-tank build right? Nothing wrong with that, but you're better off relying on a real rogue or some other rogue class type to do the actual trap removing since your heavy armor will mess that up really bad. Hopefully, you are putting tumble, open lock, use magic device, and spot to good use? Be a shame to cross-class put no points toward those five skills.

Re: EDM Paladin/Rogue of Kossuth
Well, I took full tumble of course and enough umd for using wands.
Problem is, I would prefer to use cleric for evasion. Unfortunately there is no evasion deity available on the server for lawful good alignment as far as I know.
Oh, and it has not to be Kossuth, as it is a work in progress. I do not actually know, if I will be able to play it any time soon. Additionally, I have not thought much about the rp-concept behind it...

I like Paladins and hate them at the same time since they since their gameplay so strict, it is hard to build them any other way. A strength paladin is a waste and charisma paladin can't hit worth a damn, but save and smite like a mother. You can do a balance of both Cha and str for EDM, but that's too damn cookie cutter.
The last good paladin I roleplayed was a Paladin of Sune. Was a sweet talker like a bard and fought like a warrior. I miss the guy.

Oh yes, I am totally aware of the rp-intensity of a paladin. Therefore I am not totally sure on the deity yet. Besides I never played one before and might not be able any time soon to start yet another char. Am busy enough with the two I am already playing somewhat regularly.ARHicks00 wrote:I like Paladins and hate them at the same time since they since their gameplay so strict, it is hard to build them any other way. Re: EDM Paladin/Rogue of Kossuth
I remember that paladins can not aquire evasion by multiclass with cleric because none of the deities with water domain ennobles paladins.
Maybe you can set a background that this character was an orphan and street arab in early years. This may explain why he has rogue levels.

Another option is paladin/monk for evasion and tumble. I think Mystra allows paladin if you wanted to go that route. Plenty of deities outside the standard triad, lathander or helm...just take a look and do a bit of lore research and I'm sure you'll find one you like. Also you can definitely build a max charisma smiter since paladin can have +8 STR from spells and expose weakness so you don't have issues hitting.

Mystra allows Paladin and Azuth has strong lore for monks (Shining Hand) so it'd be a workable lore combination.

Would be cool if a paladin of Mystra or Azuth could get a magic sword instead of a holysword.Tsidkenu wrote:Mystra allows Paladin and Azuth has strong lore for monks (Shining Hand) so it'd be a workable lore combination.
