Not sure if this is in the right place.

After recently trying to start an organization In character with out looking at any outside sources. Because I did not see this a problem for some light-hearted soliderin' as my character calls it. Has been greeted with a lot of Meta Gaming/Mocking.

Look I get that you have cliques' and that you might need to have Approvals to start an Organization but when your mocking character IC for your OOC believes or mocking them IC for over looking an OOC rule or regulation it's just not cool. How the hell would your character know this info.

Not everyone is entirely aware of every single regulation when they are just starting out. Still not even sure what is going on be honest. But I will look into it.

What I am frustrated about is the AMAZING amount of META gaming. No clue I needed to seek approval to do Anything IC as long as I did the work to ROLEPLAY it correctly. Which was supported by other charters actions.

Then you have characters Meta Gaming IC and openly mocking you because you're unaware of a possible OOC ruling.

Had a Dwarf Make a Sign calling my character an idiot. Without provocation IC. A REALISTIC character would not act like this. A Thayan Knight telling me he cares about the political ramifications of starting a Militia.

And a Harry Potter Knock off with a bad attitude insult me probably both IC and OOC questions the LEGAL ramifications of a Militia. In a world where Fey are attacking the frindly Arm Inn. When you have an Alliance with the ZHENTS and Baldurs gate.

Literally just trying to Make the RP light and fun and not tied down by Cliques behavior. Why is any of this an issue when you have people behaving in ways that don't reflect the lore in any way shape or form.

I just don't get it. I keep roleplaying solid characters and I get people telling I need approval to wipe my ass. For what roleplaying with a group of friends on our free time in RPish sever.

Starting to really question what the hells the point at all. I made a character with no depth because you hated my Thayan character and MOCKED him OOC and IC. For not wanting to be part of a guild. Or capitulating to the demands of people I barely know. Over a misunderstanding of hierarchal command structure of a fictional group. which nearly destroyed my intrest in playing the character. d Never been a fan of guilds for this exact reason.

This time has been no different I made a character that no one can easily dislike completely average farm boy with Zero Depth so I DON'T STEP ON ANYONES TOES. And people loved it or at least tolerated the character. Until I decide to add Depth.

As soon as I add Depth or try to make progress in any meaningful way. Like add a back story and Motivation for Existing. Like starting a IC light-hearted organization with people that want to RP Drilling and marching and have gotten other people interested my real friend in Real life . Then BAM.. I'm doing something wrong again and being MOCKED IC for something I may have missed OOC.

I'm not sure if people are reinforcing cliques. Not sure if people are PISSED off because of change. Or my Ignorance for not understanding a possible rule. not sure If people want to force me to follow a rule I'm unfamiliar with. Not sure if you hate me or my characters. But I'm just lost here.

Why is it so hard just to have some fun. I'm getting told IC that groups will be angry for starting a militia. Fine I won't start a stupid militia I won't add depth to my characters. I will join the retarded druid who hisses and growls at people. which is probaly insulting to people with mental illness anyways but I don't care about that kind of thing.

My friends don't want to log on after they watched the display earlier today. They don't really want to be part of the internal politics of the server.

We just want to have fun without ruffling any ones feathers. So what am I suppose to do to have an effective character been here for more then 6 months and join a already functioning guild/ clique and follows orders? Or just never work towards anything but grinding on my own hunting goblins and bandits.

Sorry not sure if this is the right place. But yeah what am I suppose to do? What's an effective character suppose to act like and how do I please you people?

And really with the amount of magic being cast and the over the top silliness of the server so far that I have seen on a regular basis. That the gods that these characters worship would strip them of powers from constant missue. people would be tossed out of towns for being lunitics.

I get that there is a certain amount of campiness. But the EGGSHELL politics is drving me mad. Approval for this to RP your character this way or Approval for that.

I am truely sorry if you have been singled out by some of the groups here. I have seen your rp and while I never got a chance to rp in depth with any of them I can tell you that I for one really liked what you was doing. I felt you was immersing yourself into the part you are playing.

All I can tell you is that I hope you will not let a few bad apples spoil your barrel full. I personally want to eventually experience some of that depth you spoke about in your piece above. I hope you will give the ones here who are not intent on judging you a chance to experience rp with some of your character concepts.

Well i was in the same shoes as you man when i started out. . .

Best advice i can give you is make there character your own don't think about what other's think. . . Alot of people know me as a person who used to make over the top characters and concepts in the past and they still to this day give me shixt for it. . . But i mean if it makes since rp wise why not right (Is what i thought). Anyway. . . Depth isent a bad thing don't let those haters get you down ive been dealing with haters of my rp for years now since 09. . . You just have to roll with the punches and keep it up.

In terms of your specific ranting problems: Depth isent a bad thing. It add's character and plot twist to you rp so you aren't just "Mr.Sanders the farmer". Depth is what makes the world of fearun fun. . . How there is depth in the lore of the realm and more things that meets the eye then just what is said in the record books. . . . LEGAL RAMIFICATIONS are just another silly thing people will tell you to try to detour you away from the rp you were trying to create so that your more leaned towards the rp they wan't you do. . . They are not the flaming fist so they hold no jurisdiction in the Sword Coast. . . The only people who can lecture you about the law is the Zhent on their land that's it . . .Do not listen to anyone about OOC laws unless a Head DM tells you other wise.

Honestly man you do you. . . Again unless a Head DM tell you otherwise. . . The character you make should bring pleasure to you and if you enjoy it who cares what anyone else thinks this is a game and games are ment to be enjoyed not regulated with lore pride and OOC banter / law bull crap unless its all IC and correct.

Play the game how you want, and be the author of YOUR OWN story.

Nah, that's cliche!! We've got those...

Ranting is good now and then we all need to blow of some steam some times

Every one simply needs to play what ever the hell they want and if they dont like it they can simply not rp with your toon.
If they bug you oocly about it tell them to stop if they dont SS it and poke a admin on the forums about it.
If they bug you about it IC suck it up or do something about it IC.

I think the best advice I can give you is to go with the grain of the server a bit. But that is just judged from what I read in your story, which doesn't go into specifics (which I also wouldn't recommend on the public forum. That is more suited for a PM to the Head DMs, as per forum rules).

Though you and Invoker poke fun at the half drow paladin, people here seem to be a bit less receptive to the RP of "snowflakes", but also to privileges not earned on this server. (for example being a mercenary leader, without having done the RP investment on this server) I think that that is the issue you come up against.

I do not condone the behaviour it resulted in towards your character, but am just giving you my point of view.

As you see in this topic, if you just do you, you should be able to find your place amongst the players here. Should you want something more, you can always ask the DMs through a PM to give you some help in achieving your goals.

BGTSCC can unfortunately be cruel to newbies. You have many Players on this Server that are invested in the community to such a degree that they can intentionally and unintentionally make the fun gaming experience incredibly difficult for others.

But there are a few things you can do about it.

First, there is this, from the General Server Rules:

– Public Personal Attacks
– If you have a problem with any Player or any DM or are subject to any breaches of the rules by another Player, do not post it publicly on the Forums. Instead, send a PM with linked screenshots (if available) to the DM group via Private Messaging available on this Forum. It is much harder for the DM team to take action without the evidence of screenshots.

If you are being harassed OOC, and submit evidence of that to the Head DMs, it is their job to speak and deal with those Players causing the issue.

If you are being harassed IC, well...that is always going to happen. Unfortunately, there are many moments when OOC issues will cause an IC harassment to come your way, but that again, is something you simply need to document as best you can.

Or, simply ignore those Players that give you grief. Which may mean ignoring their Characters as well.

However...I think you should understand that, with your Thayan initiative, if you didn't make contact AT ALL with the actual player-run Thayan Guild on this Server, you may have come across as stepping on other people's toes. I hope you can respect that those Thayan players have worked quite hard to establish their guild and their IC reputation, and if you came on BGTSCC and ignored their existence...that itself would setup some animosity.

As for you militia idea, that sounds great! If some Characters mocked your Character, in-character, that is just something you must accept and RP with. There are most likely many Characters that see starting a militia useless, because of the number of NPC forces that "control" the Server...something that actually exists because THERE IS an OOC need to keep some control of this Server, else you would have Players simply LOLZ-PvPing everything in sight.

A militia is again, a great idea, and you shouldn't give up on it OOC, if IC mocking happened.

But, if you experienced OOC mocking from the idea, then again, take screenshots and submit those to the Head DMs.

I see valid complaints in your OP, but I also see you equally insulting other Players because of feeling negative. That doesn't help your case, mate.

The point is to have fun. This is a game. For fun. You're not going to prove anything to anyone, here. What you might do, in the short or long of your time on BGTSCC, is impress some with a quality of role-play, and make some frien—both IC and OOC—that hopefully will make your fun experience even funner.

The above does not require anything but you having the right attitude, to why you play here. If you are not able to satisfy yourself on a basic level, then you will always be disappointed, because it is, simply put, not the easiest place to see your fantasy gaming dreams come true. BGTSCC actually requires a lot of investment, a healthy dose of patience, and the ability to "weather out" the disappointments.

And that is easier to do when you have friends in this game. Or, frenemies! Those help you out too, in...other ways!!! *waves hi to his very large posse of frenemies!*

I think you are/were on the right track by coming up with a concept, and trying to fulfill it through RP. Maybe your concept will fail...that happens A LOT on this Server. Try and be flexible.

What I can definitely say with my years of experience on BGTSCC is: DO NOT GAME HERE TO PLEASE OTHER PEOPLE! Game here to please yourself, and as well, support your friends. Both IC and OOC. Simple as that. Just do not go about it by breaking Server Rules. lol.

Ranting does help, but it also hurts. Some people can deal with arguments, others not. Maybe more so not!! I've given my thoughts above, but I'll just say again that if often takes around 1 real life year of gaming on BGTSCC in order to find your "people," and to really get some awesome RP, and thus, a rewarding feeling.

That might seem like a long time, but as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day. And if you understand this, you'll also understand that many other Players have spent years building up their Role-play, and if you come at them like a steamroller trying to prove something, or trying to change them toward what you want, you'll very much see brick walls thrown up in your face.

And no one wants that.

So, take a breath mate, and try again. And let it flow....

If people are giving you a grief due to OOC reasons, bring it up to DMs. With screenshots and chatlogs (neverwinter 2 client extender saves chat logs)

Some people have unforunate tendency to blow up alignment issues out of proportion, which often turns supposedly good characters into murderous lunatics, but your character is free to react on that however they want.

The way I see it, you are absolutely free to start one more group, call it "militia" and RP training drills however you want.

You're not "supposed" to play anything specific. You're supposed to play what you want.

I've never even RP'ed with you to my knowledge and I have no idea if it is my character that you're going on about. But FYI I have worked on this character for over 4 years and like you had to deal with the criticisms IC and OOC but I stuck with it and her and now she is one of my most beloved characters. I'm sorry but you can not in one sentence say how people are mocking you and then go ahead and mock them and their idea and character concept.

I understand the sentiment. But don't stop because of people. If someone is cramping your RP, just move on and find someone else to RP with. Keep on recruiting and moving up the militia RP and either people will get on board or out of the way.

Hopefully you can nab a passing DMs interest and get some specifics on how you could move your RP on lore wise or adjust it as necessary.

I'm always happy to support anyone who is encouraging RP with my own characters IC.

IC mockery is one thing. It's not pleasant and it can both be and feel very unfair. But that isn't OOC mockery, which is another issue. If you feel someone is insulting you, try talking to them. If that doesn't work, then talk to a DM about the issue.

Metagaming is another matter entirely. Take as many screenshots as you can and submit them to the DM team. If all goes well, then you'll never hear anything about it, and the one that metagames won't do it again.

I usually ignore this kind of threads, everyone needs to blow off steam, but if my character is mentioned as part of someone being harassed or singled out I do try my best to ensure that was never the case and that I apologise and explain, this is just my character being mean, whether it is old racist crank Damien the leech healer, or Amenthes the oddly nice Thayan knight, I do always try and go out of my way to ensure what they do is strictly roleplay, even when roleplaying with tosspots like yourself. And the reason I call you a tosspot is my British background and these logs I bothered to find this morning instead of working... thanks for making me that pissed off to do so.

The above was the 2nd incident my character ever met yours, the first I came up, saluted you, treated you like a red wizard and gave you all the respect you wanted, deserved, as your in-game status was, I didn't care about the OOC fact you called our guild shit in the past, a bunch of elitists, nor the fact you had plenty to say about the people in the guild and their roleplay/attitude. I came up and behaved in a proper roleplay manner as my character would and you know it you little turd bag... anyway here is another log, this is me now with your new Character Richard, where I have gone out of my way to clearly harass you...

I, funnily enough, did not know Richard and your Thayan was the same player until you suddenly started ranting OOC like a child who's been told he can't have his third dessert... I actually roleplayed with Richard the character as I thought he was new, and I thought I be a bit welcoming as they had some rp the day previously.. and also to send some tells to help him realise the problems of granting oneself titles without any background, dm approval, NPC approval... but clearly I went out of my way to harass you.

In Summary.

You go out of your way to ignore other people's roleplay, insult everyone else's roleplay, claim the server is crap and everyone is elitist and out to get you. Could it be you might be to blame? Could it be writing OOC that you are in a pocket realm and other people roleplaying right across from you don't exist might get their backs up? Might it be everytime someone asks your character a question you go into brackets to call them a moron and not to harass you and your delicate nature? Perhaps you are the problem and need to learn to get along with everyone else. They should have taught it to you in kindergarten, you learn to share toys, make little stories up together... or were you too busy being in a pocket realm by yourself, playing?

The above was the 2nd incident my character ever met yours, the first I came up, saluted you, treated you like a red wizard and gave you all the respect you wanted, deserved, as your in-game status was, I didn't care about the OOC fact you called our guild (#2) in the past, a bunch of elitists, nor the fact you had plenty to say about the people in the guild and their roleplay/attitude. I came up and behaved in a proper roleplay manner as my character would and you know it you little turd bag... anyway here is another log, this is me now with your new Character Richard, where I have gone out of my way to clearly harass you...
