Flashburst spell

Range : personal
AOE spell 20 fts
spell resistance : no
save : special

"You create a blinding flash of light. All creatures facing you are blinded for one round. Moreever, they must succeed a fortitude saving throw against spells or suffer a -4 attack penality for 2d10 rounds and lose half their spot skill ranks for the duration."

Bugs

1- "All creatures facing you are blinded" ---» implies you are not supposed to be blinded as the caster... and I get blinded each time I use it... weard

2- "succeed a fortitude saving throw against spells or suffer a -4 attack penality"
supposed to be Foritude... but the stat used to make the DC is reflex each time I cast it... if you look in the game calculation box you can read

"Fortitude Save VS. Spells : *Failure* : (2 + 13 = 15 vs dc 17)

Here are my stats

the fortitude is 10
my reflexe is 13
and my will 16

so it takes reflex instead of fortitude stat to calculate even if the text says fortitude...

not that I care too much... for me reflex is more credible in a realism state of mind...I guess... as you can close your eyes to avoid damage... but well... maybe changing the text or the other way around... but this is just my opinion


more concrete... just make it be in correlation...
making texte = what is actually calculated

3- Furthermore... as the caster I can suffer the -4 penality for 2d10 rounds ... back to number 1... creatures facing you the text says... how can I be facing myself ?

4- no aminations of any flash or anything... a big nothing visually



meanwhile... I found a way to bypass half of the bug... while I'm being blinded I can still use wirlwind to do some damage... but if I get the -4 penality out of it... then... it is a big fail... lol

I see fortitude on the script, I suspect your character has save bonuses against spells specifically. Added a check so that you don't blind yourself and a small VFX.

Thank for the answer I will look into it. About possible buff I might have.. I doubt I do but who knows...

Beside, the check is not made for blinding... Like the text says... It blinds... Period...no check... But in front of the caster so.. Not the caster... But each time I cast it I get blind at the same time as my opponents...
It is supposed to be operating like a fireboat does an irradiate from centre, the caster... If you read text of the spell...
So not affecting caster itself... That concludes on no need for a buff on check to prevent the caster from being hit...
About the fortitude check now...
The spell is just //////not //////supposed to affect the caster... Why just having a mere +3 to avoid being cough in it... It makes no sense
So problem still here...

If you have Spellcraft of 15 you get +3 to saves vs. spells. That said, any fix would not appear immediately, Valefort would need to submit the fix and it would go in later. I think he was agreeing it should not impact the caster, but was also explaining the code shows it is a fortitude save, but if you have spellcraft, as I said you would have a bonus to save vs. spells. You also might have this from other buffs. spellcraft gives +1 to save vs. spells for every 5 points allocated to the skill.

by the way ^_^ at the same time you fix it...

it has no animation right now...

could you add one that fit to it whyle you are at it ^_^

a light like sunbeam or bless or any other already scripted that fits the description of this spell would do fine... can't be worst then nothing :P

I think it's just an English translation confusion. The end of one of your posts said the problem was still there, but upon rereading I think you meant there's still an issue with the saves calculation, but that had been cleared up as the bonus from spell craft.

Regarding animation, Valefort mentioned he planned to add a small vfx. I agree something like bless would be fitting. Happy gaming!

No worries man, your English is fine. I just misread the meaning is all. My guess is some of our players from the UK would say your English is better than mine...we tend to butcher the language in the US. At least we're good at it.

Ho yeah I forgot...

I also noticed that the spell has no visual on the aoe range it covers... Like when you use a spell like fireburst or banishment for exemple
So having 20 fts written is kind of difficult to visualize mentally

Since the spells description has
Instant
I don't know if this is behaving the right way on that matter

And also it makes me think... By being an instant... Like other instant spell I have... I can cast them even if it is not my turn in an instant...

I recall seeing this instant mention on deflection spell with work that way as an instant

wonder if this was a bug also to that flashburst mechanic

Right now the spell is casted like a regular spell and takes a turn to cast

This is no instant to me

Just to say... I know you have add a visual effect on paper because it was written in the patch log... but...

In real play.... it doesn't have any VFX

and the spell also doesn't allow you to blind your enemy one turn to let you make any action... they are blind a bit less time and each time I started to be able to take an action the ennemy would attack me like if he was not blinded...

before patch I could at least wirlwind even if blinded I could attack one turn...

so still 2 bugs

but for the rest... I don't blind myself anymore and also I can't get the penality of -4 anymore wich is very good ^_^ tx for this partial debugging

for now I have taken the spell off until I reach lv 12 of sorcerer... wich is in about 5 lv from now...

so I won't be able to test it until then
