Masks on/off in the Underdark - also summons.

As far as i know it is not unlawful in Sshamath to wear a mask inside the city.
After being reported to a DM about wearing a mask (which i've seen Countless people do in the UD) I figure it would be best to get this topic rolling so we may all know if this is or isn't allowed.
In reference to "Laws of S'shamath" I do not see anywhere that wearing a mask is an offense that requires DM action.

(part 2)
I was also reported of having a goblin following me (which i only had a cat following me)...which in the same "Laws of S'shamath" this is allowed...
So for the clarity of me and those who are also interested, are we allowed to have masks/summons that carry our luggage/ gear?

there no rule on masks in the UD, some of the merchants have that silly convo check to not help you if you are wearing one tho... which makes no sense given there is no rule against it - and in the case of the school of necromancy, masks are apart of the uniform... but if you are in uniform you are also easily identified
only summons allowed are imps
familiars tho, none of them are combat orientated so i doubt they matter and would actually count as a summon to the extent of what the rules go against, a goblin would be a no tho

Can we get get that script removed? IDK it might just be me but i feel like telling some one to remove their mask in the UD is like asking if they would like to shank you.

I think druids & rangers can get the monstrous humanoid companion which should be allowed in the city, along with any regular beast companion in my opinion. It's a city that uses giant rats as horses for gods' sake; what's wrong with a spider or bear wandering around behind its owner? Exotic surface pets drow would want to show off to prove their prestige and wealth

The DM was me and this was a mistake. The report was actually of a masked drow walking the streets of Baldur's Gate, with a goblin companion in tow. Your character's name was given so I had assumed you teleported back to the UD. Not sure how this complication happened though I have a hunch, the disguise system was involved. At any rate as far as I am aware there is not, nor has even been any rules against wearing a mask in the UD. Sorry for bothering you about it.

It's okay You were just doing your job m8. I'm just shocked that the disguise system is being abused in this way.

It's neither yours or Creo's fault.
Parents teach their children not to be a snitch for a reason. Snitches are looked down upon because they are weak individuals. Yet for some reason here it seem to not only be socially acceptable, but it gets promoted as well.
If the person who saw it, confronted the person they saw instead of running to their teacher (Or DM in this case). Then this would not have happened.
At least that is my opinion on it.

I didnt realize our server operated in the streets, where snitches get stitches lol.
Seriously though, it is not the players job to enforce the rules of the server. Your analogy is pretty weak , it is more like telling people to not go to the police if you see someone breaking the law but be a vigilantee.

Well I actually do believe you should do something first and call the cops after, but that is besides the matter and completely understand that my view is not shared by many others.
What I wanted to say was that it is okay to do something, but at least talk to that person first.
For example:
1. I see someone cast a spell on a location where he is not supposed to and I caught him doing it. I quickly make a screenshot and sneaky sent it to a DM while staying anonymous.
2. I see someone cast a spell on a location where he is not supposed to. I send a tell to said person: Hey man, I saw you cast a spell in a location where you weren't supposed to. I made a screenshot that I wish to send to a DM. Do you want the chance to let a DM know yourself first?
You really have all rights choosing either option 1 or 2, all I'm saying I would respect you more if you went for option 2.
Luckily I haven't received a report from a DM on anything so far yet, but I do know that the first thing I would say to a DM is: Who reported it? I would like to talk to this person so I can understand his or her's reasoning for reporting me.
I believe a lot of miscommunication can be avoided by talking first before running to a DM.

Well it's quite likely the reason someone was reported was because of rules violations. It seems very improbable the DMs are going to give out names of people who make reports but hopefully they will chime in here.
I also find the continuing belittling rhetoric ("running to a DM") to be quite damaging as it's essentially shaming people who want nothing to do with rule-breaking players to not report them at all. Encouraging players to leverage rules violations against other players under threat of being reported is a pretty quick way to breed negative feelings within the community. This is why reporting to the DMs has been the traditional route. In my experience there is a large spectrum in the understanding of the rules and it's the responsibility of the DM's to both fully understand and enforce them on the server. I understand the want to help out new players and do so myself but there is no need to breed an atmosphere that discourages people to utilize the DMs because it is snitching and tattle-telling.

yea they use exotic animals but none of which are ever in the city just because
they are used for transportation and stop before entering the city and if something heavy needs to be carried they will probably use carts or just levitate/teleport it to where it needs to go

This also brings up the opportunity to discuss infiltration of cities.
What if a drow does want to infiltrate Baldur's Gate? He has a mask on because he does not wish to be seen. Or he is using HIPS to get by the gaurds unnoticed.. The gaurds are scripted to stop you and arrest you if you have a weapon or mask on. Obviously this person (I'm assuming a ranger or druid as they are the only ones able to summon a monstrous humanoid) didn't really think things through by having a goblin follow him around (can we even summon those?)
I see a particular company run around Sshamath every now and then holding a mission that requires subterfuge and masks. Can the same be done on the surface by drow without accusations of "godmodding"? Isn't that why the script is in place? You are actually not godmodding because the guard is moving to arrest you.
