To an extent, yes... Because you can spam your invocations making up for lower DC's. It's not as good as a CON Lock by any means or any other blaster style Lock, but might be better in group play. I think there were some issues with how Warlock DC's were being handled in the game, but not sure if it was fixed or not... There are some very good Warlock builders around here somewhere that could help you... I haven't seen Teo post in a while, but he helped me learn some of the ins and outs of building a warlock, so if you can find him that's who I'd suggest asking any specific questions you have.

Changes to the vanilla invocations can be found here:

And new invocations can be found here:

I don't think there is anywhere on the forums where we list all invocations so your best bet is to pull the base list from the NWN2 wiki, then look at what has been changed, and then look at the new/custom list to get a full picture. The NWN2 wiki on invocations is here:

well my DC's should be as close to as high as i can get it with SpProd and pushing Cha. should still be able to blast just fine too. with 17d6 at end and three Epic spells. could add 2 more dice or 2 more cha, but i thought the epic spells would make better RP.

I also heard that you cannot devour magic on tentacles, or that when you do it is ridiculously minimal. is that correct?

I am not sure about this, but if no one else responds shoot me a reminder and I will create a QC character to test it. Probably should test the DC's anyway to see if they are calculating properly. Feel free to list any specific invocations you are interested in here and when I get a chance to put a character together and enough time to run some thorough tests I'll use whatever you jot down as part of the test case.

I literally posted about this a few days ago when someone asked. The DCs are way way busted. Like unusable in epics.

It was never fixed

I used to do it a lot when I still had both spells.
You get the buff icon of the increased hp, but do not see an actual increase in hp.

Whatever you do, don't pick shapeshifting.
Tried it with the hellhound. I actually tried all kinds of things with it but he was so incredibly bad.
He really sucked at everything he was supposed to do. I would have been happy if they made him maybe even weaker, but increased his speed by a lot. So it becomes like a travel form or something, while making him unfit for combat. Which he is anyways.

You do not get to much freedom when picking invocations, to many mandatory ones unfortunately. Would have been nice if we had one more invocation per tier, but hey we all want what we can't have right:).
That said you can still make a lot of fun builds.
Even though it might seem that when you see people like me, Sette or Tekill standing there bored while spamming our vitriolic blasts at lets say the white dragon. We all still have completely different and fun builds from each other.

My build is primary rp based. I know there are specific invocations that are better for game play. There are also ones that do more for crowd control aspect of lock. A lock is built to be able to be a very solid controller, but I actually have never seen one. So much of the server's builds rely upon dealing damage and/or avoiding it through ac or hips/invisible/sanctuary. a blaster style lock can be built in this fashion. On the other spectrum, a controller style lock should be able to have the invocations to take combatants from the fight. Is this method of building not used because it is ineffective or merely a choice to pick the easier path. Controllers are harder to play but if played well should be most effective. Or has the evolution of the lock for our server just been catered toward the blaster so it in fact is easier to progress. While the evolution of the controller devolved due to this paradigm shift of preferred play style (blaster) getting 7 years of tweeks while am ignored (controller) wasn't observed and died away. I am not requesting anything. If a blaster is really the only reliable stye, I would just like to know so I will not invest a ton of effort into a style that will only bring me grief.

In the end I am just curious if anyone has tried a cont-lock? If not, I guess I can be the guinea pig :? My L2P might not be up to the challenge tnough lol.

Don't forget to change out leaps when you get a +4 dex item.
Charm I haven't tested yet, but test out ignore the pyre. It's a great invocation.
The tentacles are nice untill you get into the epic lvls, than it would have been a fun invocation to have as a 4th option. Not as a third unfortunately. Unless you don't care to much about Devour Magic.

I have tested charm and it works at least at lower levels. the tentacles works well in conjunction with Noxious. At least it should but I haven't tested it.

Just remember wall of perilous flame does half fire and half magic, so ignore the pire doesn't mean you can kite enemies through it safely.

If you are going for a Charisma heavy warlock, don't forget that 3 level dip in Blackguard. You get that aura that lowers saves, armor proficiencies, and Divine Shield to buff up your AC with your highly invested charisma ability score.

The problem you end up running into is that starting at about the mid teens everything seems to have SR, mind immunity, and save that can defeat all your control invocations. It sucks. I tried to make one like a year ago? And I just ended up being a blaster because I had no choice but to sit there and blast with vitriolic
