Underdark activity
Hi all,
Just after some feedback on Underdark activity. Am about to make a male drow PC, who is a fighter/rogue type. Is there much UD activity atm? Is there much of a call for rogue-ish types?(probably worshipping Vhaeraun) Also, is there much opportunity to interact with other guilds, particularly evil surface guilds?

Re: Underdark activity
Me and Calodan are down there usually about once or twice per week. I've ran in to half a dozen other players, but never more than 2 or 3 at a time. It's lonely sometimes, but others it can be a lot of fun.
Can't speak for any of the guilds, but there is RP to be found if you look...
That said, might not be a bad idea to have a surface toon as a back up, in case you are wanting RP when you log on and the UD is empty.

Yeah I have not been on much this week because the Upperdark areas are broken and only spawning rats currently though.......Could not take the pain of only 38 XP per kill solo when I was getting 51 XP per kill in the Upperdark.chad878262 wrote:Me and Calodan are down there usually about once or twice per week. Re: Underdark activity
There is always a little bit of activity down there at peak times (ie. Prime time on weekends), but don't ever expect the UD to have more than half a dozen to a dozen at most. But my personal finding is that the UD attracts great quality RPers, generally, so that's always a big plus in my book despite the small population.

Re: Underdark activity
It's more slow paced and quieter. There's activity. If you do play, I suggest you utilize the tell system when you see someone online as randomly bumping into each other is more rare (large areas, few players!). Aids a lot with partying up and getting those levels, and rp of course.
There's 4½ Vhaeraunites that I'm aware of in the UD, you'd be a welcome addition should you decide to go for Vhaeraun.
As for the build, play what you think would be most fun. I don't perceive any particular need either way but I think with the challenges UD can pose, liking the character and build is a must.

Re: Underdark activity
The roleplaying quality of underdark is well understood when you are hours alone in caverns and a guest breaks the silence. The maps are actually what it is despite the roleplaying at all.
In cities, however, most of the races, even drows sometimes, tend to stay just a while.
Horned Devils, Gellys, Undeads, Myconids are pretty much what you get from level 10~18, crits and sneaks won't make much difference in a place most of the things are blinded at all. But they are always great in the long term.

Have you been to the new Upperdark areas Blackrose? Levels 11-18 can grant fantastic XP from Kro's Labyrinth and the Osquips and Spiders aren't crit immune!
11 probably can't solo without some wands or other consumables unless a powerbuild with solid AC/defenses and decent damage.

Re: Underdark activity
I had a lot of fun roleplaying in the Underdark several years ago. But you probably will want to make at least one or two friends (or frenemies) down there who play around the same times as you. Or even start a character with a friend or two you've made on the surface.
It can be lonely at times if you're the only one down there, or there's only two or three of you down there and you're spread out. On the plus side, though, whenever there are DM events, they often do feel a lot more personal (since DMing in the Underdark doesn't take the same level of party management that surface DMing often does, and Underdark characters are fewer and further between so DMs have an easier time of knowing who your character is, what they stand for, and how they'll likely react in given situations). You also tend to get to know other characters better than you do up topside, since you more frequently interact with the same people over and over again. So it is a productive and fruitful environment for more invested RP.
