ADL - Another 1 GB Update

Aware of the issue, potentially due to the order of the files being packed, which produces a different checksum and causing the download to occur again. Should have this settled by next week. I was using a shortcut (someone else's staging tool) to try and bolt on quickly the continuous update workflow these past two times, though it doesn't support add/removal of the files in the directory, I had to compose a bit of code to serve that purpose before piping the output through this tool. Though for us, I may have to just bite the bullet and write something custom that is reliable for our needs.

In advance, I apologize for the extra time it takes to log in, though going forward this solution will be fixed in favor of our environment.

Thanks AoS.
Any suggestions how we can speed up our downloads? In game and Download manually through web I'm getting max 40kb/s. Going to take 7hours at this rate.
edit: looks like i can download more than one file at a time manually from the ftp/web location. so that'll cut it down significantly. Capped at 5/6 files though. And unsure which to update. If i got by last modified date on the file... total files to download through web are over 3GB? (from hak folder) But game is only asking me to download 1gb.

Use the LZMA version of it in the staging folder, it's a compressed copy that can be uncompressed using winrar/7zip.

Ahh... I was greatly annoyed the last many many days. Every single time I wanted to log on, it gave me that 1gb download. I got no patience for that. :P

Anyone got any ideas on how to speed this up?

I'm hearing stories of people getting proper download rates on this and having it patched within 30-60mins... tops.
Yes, i have no trouble downloading at full rate from other online services of 1.5MB/s.

No, manual download from the server FTP is just as slow, exact same rate.

*Start hologram* Help me obi-wan kenobi...

even worse now.
15 kb/s. 100MB left.

ran online speed test, getting 1.4MB/s DL. Higher with Steam.

Is there something we can do with port forwarding or anything or is this a random occurence issue for those in port ranges that get 'filtered' by the safety net.
Exploring ideas here. :?

Are you looking for this ? http://game.bgtscc.net:8080/

You should be able to download the heavy stuff there more quickly.

Thanks Vale. I found that earlier.
But that was just as slow.

Tested the same file i was up to when trying through the game ADL.

Here's my online test i did at the same time.

Quite puzzling this.

Just done some tracerouting, unsure how accurate it is...but looks like there's some broken links/no responses from nodes along the path from Aus to server. Quite likely causing this issue. *scratch head*

Odd. I'm with Exetel and I had no prob utilising the Auto-Downloader to get the 1.1gb update in about 12 minutes (yes, Australia has worse internet than Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Madagascar). Could it be ISP and/or location related?

*Shrugs* Possibly?
But the weird thing is... i just finished downloading updates on steam... and windows... at 1.5MB/s download.
So, i'm recieving information fine, from what i can tell.

Trace complete.

trace route.. ran three using cmd prompt. they all came back like this. I'm guessing theres a node at Los Angeles (LAX)? makes sense that Aus traffic goes through Syd, to LAX. But it gets halted there... like someone has built a wall to stop immigrants.. :P
Then it picks up again, without too much of a pause? is that how you read it?

Steam and Microsoft both have distribution servers in Australia. The "speed cap" with BGTSCC is 1Gbps.
