A Heart In A Jar

The blood was still slowly seeping out of the continously throbbing heart, his thoughts were racing. He had been looking for explanations of natural phenomena, locked away as secrets in the Tan'ari's heart. All in vain, the little bit of blood he had been able to obtain from the extracted balor's heart had been minimal. Any attempts of reproduction had utterly failed, he was about to give up on the matter.

His thoughts drifted off, it had been a harsh undertaking, it had taken almost the entire Uktar and parts of the Marpenoth. All had begun with attempts to gather a group of willing abbil, it had felt shabby, asking other drow for aid like a petitioner. Many denied him straight away, others accepted only to always lack the courage to show their pittyful faces when called to arms.

Two scouting missions with a different assortment of people had basically failed, in the end they had found the balor in an entirely different area, not the Cave initially thought of as its lair.

The group that acted on his request in the end consisted of Renor, who had proven very capable in fights, though he seemed mentally unstable sometimes leaving a lot left to desire in his behaviour.

Cinder a drow male he had seen in the tunnels surrounding Sshamath quite few times prior, seemed not to be a man of many words, mainly silently, he had been hacking away at their opponents with his two weapons. A grim hatred towards devils and demons had seemed to be his driving force.

Sz'vet was, he was in a way also quiet but differently, more in a calm manner, he did talk but if he did it always seemed thought through somehow, he had been raining death upon their opponents with arrows from the shadows, though he did not shy away from close quarters either, delivering painful blows to his unaware enemies.

Tessa his subservient from the School of Necromancy and somewhat bravely fought alongside them, well prepared it seemed with potions and even scrolls with which she provided astonishingly powerful support in form and shape of water elementals that fiercely fought the fire giants on their way to the Tan'ari.

Lastly there was Aunrae this strangely different of their kin, her views on Ilbith were most troubling to him, her fighting abilities, magical prowess and even more impressively her utmost ability to inspire courage in the hearts of her companions.
There was a moment in time where the balor was about to strike them in fear of their lives, considering a retreat but she prevailed her courage instilling words were what drove their small group of assorted to victory.

K'yon smiled at the thought of it and got himself ready for yet another row of tests with the little bit of balor blood he had left, much less devastated at his low chance to suceed.

((Thanks to DM Dialectic for making this possible and sponsoring the idea and to everyone who's helped suceeding at this truly difficult task))

The Manifold Of Things

He had done it, it was finished, on the front of his spellbook sat his own, very own unique, as it had to be, unless he wanted to fall prey to foul curses, magically inscribed personal sigil consisting of five runes, not only his favourite number but also a very, stable construct the way he has shaped it. ImageIt was a thing of beauty, he watched the magical currents twist and twirl, he had woven protective wards and some of the strongest curses into this one rune, specifically created for his spellbook's protections.

The runes were positioned in ways they could form different shapes through convections between one and another. Was the integrated spell just a weak one, it could be stored in one of the singular outside runes, did it need more power, two of the opposite outside runes could be utilised, more powerful weavings could be put into a conglomerate of three or four of the runes, until finally the utilisation of all runes combined allowed fire the most powerful of spells to be imbued.

The details about its defensive capabilites he had tried to forget and cloud as much in his mind as possible to further protect the contents. Not only did he keep his spells in this book, also personal notes at intricacies and possible modifications, more importantly however his research was immortalised onto the pages specifically created for a sheer endless lifespan. He smiled at the thought of it.

((The rune was my first attempt at using paint 3D I might improve on it in the future if I am able to and find the time.))

Times Hundred

Tentacles over tentacles were lashing after him, he would stumble he would stagger yet he would not fall. Mind blast after mind blast hit or missed him in his nimble dance.

Their expedition had started strangely, the one betting to slay the elder brain all by himself had taken considerable punishment from mind blasts, leaving him unable to act and giant fists of brain golems. A special breed of golems, K'yon had never seen before, they must have been the Illithid's own creation.
They fell so fast that K'yon was not able to concern himself with their capabilities however.

They encountered never-ending legions of Illithids, Ulitharids, Intellect Devourers and the aforementioned Golems. The one faring the worst was definitely the one that had bet to kill the elder brain all by himself. K'yon had even had to heal him several times and considered claiming he had failed their bet, considering how much help they granted him to achieve his goal. All others, Da'dryn Mor'hyanda a mighty drow warrior, that was barely ever even slowed down by the masses, Aunrae, who as many times before, had stood tall against his foes and he himself who he had barely even been touched.
They all had fared quantities better than him. It was laughable that he of them all was to beat this epicenter of the Illithid power in this area, the ruler of their kin, their supreme intelligence.

Now they were watching him tentacles over tentacles were lashing after him, he would stumble, he would stagger, yet he would not fall. Mind blast after mind blast hit or missed him in his nimble dance, he was hurt but that only spurred his will. He utilized all he had at his disposal, potions, scrolls and even wands. Their supportive effects began to wear off one by one as the monsters began to fall, their numbers dwindling rapidly.

Moments later a grinning Keeshe, cut the last of the elder brains tentacles, severing its remaining defense, its minions slain it was subjected to K'yon's cutting instruments.

He took large amounts of the the elder brains mass, filled it into jars and withdrew fluid from the pool, the collectives' cognitive center swam in.
A bitter sweet victory, he gained knowledge and valuable substances but a grinning Keeshe expected his pay.

Three-hundred times hundred gold pieces he had requested, once more K'yon considered to remind Keeshe of all the help he had received by his and the others' hands and to call off the deal.

K'yon decided against it, he could lose a capable mercenary, even more importantly though his reputation, so he handed over the hundred bags each containing three-hundred pieces of gold, a time consuming transaction, his mind already busy with planning a further expedition to explore the wonders of the hive, it had had laboratories filled with macabre things, things he did not even dare to describe intriguing his very spirit.

((I do not own the copyrights to the 300 logo, it just seemed a cool idea to use it for this. I might slow down on the frequency of the bio updates and go over to longer stories, though I am uncertain it is a good choice for this medium XD... we'll see happy to hear opinions ;) ))

Murder In The Mines

After a horrible cycle K'yon had had, he finally made himself write that damned report, a deep fear of failure clung to his heart. He had made somewhat of a scene in Gloura's, setting the bar board ablaze with some spilled whine, nothing really impactful, yet everyone had gotten to feel his foul mood this day.
ImageImageImage

Having finished the report, with his sigil protecting it from any attempts of those who should not see what was written therein, he quickly sent the report to his superior, his troops were safely tucked away in a sanctuary waiting for his return.
His heart felt a little lighter as he went to rest between his troops, he had teleported back to. Ah his troops, he liked the sound of it.

((This is for a quest that K'yon was given by his Mentor High Necromancer L' Beldroin and is to be treated as confidential, please really not metagaming. Only those that I chose to involve in this are supposed to know about this. Thank you BlackmanD for this awesome opportunity and really hard nut to crack only after many many times of thinking about all the stuff I was able to come to a good conclusion thank you!))

The way I did the writing is a bit experimental, therefore it is not perfect yet. But already I think it looks pretty amazing. Thanks for reading ;) and as always I am happy about critique, which I get only little of XD))

K'yon can be seen walking hectically through the School of Necromancy trying to find any and all information about necromantic entities in general and more specifically those being able to possess hosts, leaving marks aused by negative energy upon them.
