Thayan Knight Concept

Hey BG just kicking around a Thayan concept. Now I did not use the actual PRC Thayan Knight in it. I wanted to but in the end I had to sell out a bit to my power addiction and since it is evil pc I could not resist the cheese of BG on it. Which I guess I could keep that and drop WoD but really I am going to post up my build and then have you critique it and then try to convince me to go with a TK PRC build. I think the concept of this build is pretty explanatory once you look at it so without further wordiness of mine >>>

To be clear I really wanted to pick TK on this instead of BG but in the end the idea of DS and EDM were just too wonderful on account of them being so very useful to put a melee on a level that is above most melee allowing it to crush some bosses solo when needed and a group juggernaut. Specifically with a Thayan Wiz behind him spamming some serious arcane fizzle bombs at peeps.

Are you going to play him immediately or later on?
I was planning on playing a Thayan crafter as soon as crafting comes out.
Going to lvl Butch to 30 first, but I assume I will have more than enough time to lvl him up before it comes out.
That said, if you are not playing him immediately I would not mind teaming up.

Well I will be playing this concept a lot sooner than crafting being implemented that is for sure!
Looking to start up this concept in the next couple of weeks. Still working on Kory with HOV as usual but he is Level 30 and I have waaaay too much time on my hands so I want a true Alternate. I have been kicking around a few concepts before in the past they are out there now and again but this one. This one intrigues me. I just have not been able to press past level 21 with Corundum. The concept is entirely group dependant it seems in the epic levels. Pretty much status quo for the type of build it is. So really just looking to move to a concept that I have players that are interested in. This is one a fellow player Chad sent me and we both really want to explore a brothers concept we had started with some Lathanderites but that never went anywhere because it was lame. This is LE protect evil Rashemi brothers. Should be excellent RP and the fact that I can play a bit of evil will really be good for me. I want to explore my dark side in RP and this is a pretty neat class to go at it with.
That may a bit deep considering my other posts about RP here being bits of data.....Look if you have not figured it out by now I am

Well, one thing to consider is by dropping black guard and lowering charisma you can pump con for epic dr, plus since you don't need cleave you essentially gain 4 pre epic feats (1 from TK3, 3 to replace cleave, divine might and divine shield) and 1 epic feat from TK4. While your damage will suffer from edm loss, your defense will be superb. Power attack/ IPA can grove yippy enough damage when needed to get through damage resistance. DC saves aren't impacted by cha so saves should still be solid and TK gives +1 universal saves, +2 reflex and+2 vs fear.

I don't see how you'd get as high AC as you've listed in that build. Can you write it out? I counted 45–47 = 10 + 8 plate + 1 DEX + 4 AC + 4 Natural + 4 Defl. + 4 Dodge + 4 Shield AC + 4 Tower + 1 Tower spec. + 1 Medium Armor Spec. = 45 (+2 Improved Mage Armor + 1 Shadow Shield buff = 47). What am I missing that you've calculated?

tumble +3 and MPF add another +2

Unfortunately per the rules for TK you will need to have the PRC on your Char sheet to claim the title TK. Least last I read which was like a week ago that's required.
Wouldn't make sense otherwise, it will call in that play your sheet rule of the server.

Right...Tumble. Spaced that one. But MFP would be useless to this low DEX build (9 DEX + 3 item is 12 = +1 DEX mod, perfect for regluar plate).
So that's still 48 – 50 AC. ??

11 Base + 3 Tumble + 13 FP (NOT MITH FP but +4 AC) + 8 Tower Shield (+4 AC) + 4 Deflection + 2 Greater Heavy Armor Specialization + 2 Shield Specs (1 MaA Shield Block 1 Tower Shield Spec + 4 Dodge + 4 Natural + 7 DS = 58 AC
Get a Shadow Shield/Barkskin/Tortoise Shell/Spider Skin buff + IMA + Magic Vestment for Shield = approx. 63 AC! There you go Steve you asked and I obliged.

Full plate is 8/1, so with +4 AC = 12 (you list 13).
What is "DS +7?"

9+4=13. Let us do it barney style. 9 + 1 = 10, 10+1=11, 11+1=12...still got one left....12+1=13. Not like a +3 DEX item to get the +1 for DEX bonus on the FP is hard either.
Divine Shield man = DS I have a +7 CHA build so DS will grant 7 AC for decent bursts when needed. Otherwise though the build sits at 51 AC no DS. 50 is the magical number really for rolling the server mobs just about anywhere. Will get an occasional Crit attack but not that much. Kory runs around with 49 AC before Super Saiyan buffs and sits at 53 AC when fully buffed killing bosses with approx. 35 DMG per hit. This build will work just fine and may even have a chance at wasting the Dracolich if the proper UMD devices are used to buff up after he nails you with a G.Breach. The real issue is getting past Valgoth who is worlds more dangerous to a melee build with his spell set.

I am not going to get into semantics with players here. Take that discussion elsewhere please. The Thayan guild just put out a advertisement on this. Read that then start a discussion thread on the semantics of this convo there thank you.

Right I could get the Epic DR which combined with the shield other ability of the TK it would be a nice thing for a group.
Now the 4 pre epic feats? What the feck do I get? If we assume I drop Cleave, DS and DM what do I take instead? It would really be 2 if I want IPA which I do not. I really do not use it not on a FB build. I would be more apt to go the ICE route there if I must lose 6 AB I want AC instead because it most likely will prolong the fight instead of shorten it. Especially with a -2 AB from Tower Shield usage already.

4 feats, you could get both, which essentially could give +6 ac when needed or +6 damage (12 with no shield). The AC is only 1 less than divine shield and the damage when two handing 2 less than divine might and usage is not capped. Would actually be more versatile worth similar AC/Damage potential. The thing you get from the divine might/ shield route is the ability to use both, but only a few times per rest.

Right that is a good point. It would be versatile. I do not PvP so the feats are perfect for PvE and PvM.
Okay I am listening on that. Now to curb my PBer. So I get this when I need it but not both when fighting a boss like I would with DS and DM also DM is not just that it gives +14 Damage since I will take EDM. Which is nice for bosses. 14 more damage and 7 AC for just about as long as I need to fight a boss.....However I could build for DS and DM and negate trying to get the EDM that would allow for Epic DR instead since I do not have to get to 21 STR and CHA instead could build to get 17 CHA and then pump STR and CON instead. Get Epic DR and have DS + DM when needed......
