Tree Stride & Travel By Plant In UD

Do those two spells even work in the UD? Since one spell needs trees and the other needs plants and the UD mostly has mushrooms.

They used to work better, or more. But Areas got changed in the last year and I have yet to find an Area in which they work—I was making a list with my Druid Svirf, but I got frustrated after 20 Areas failed. :|

I have not found an area this works in yet.

Should be a wide range of mosses.

I was once given a lecture by a Staff person on how mosses are not mushrooms are not trees. :|

Though correct in their lecture, without saying it, they pretty much said "You're SOL." lol.

So yeah, pretty much a Dev needs to switch on some Tag in areas, so that Tree Stride works. And that's it. And be done with it.

If Staff don't like the idea of Tree Striding in a place where there are no trees—though tree-like mushrooms for sure—then how about making a Stone Stride spell, and make the Underdarkian Druid sects very happy happy denizens!!!

Thank you and thank you!

Correct, mosses are not mushrooms or trees (good thing the staff member was there to explain that difficult conundrum, lol) but mosses ARE plants. Therefore Travel by plant should work just fine. That being said, being a plant means that it is a photosynthesizing organism, so the "mosses" in the UD can't really be mosses in the conventional, real word use of the term, as there is not enough sunlight to support even them.

The best bet though is probably the addition of some sort of Mushroom Stride/Travel by Fungus spell that is UD only, though I am not sure how that would be made to work.

You don't have to make it UD only. But, the issue is tagging. I'm pretty sure travel by plant and tree stride both let you travel from areas that are marked as natural to other areas marked as natural (marked in the toolset). Maybe you could make it target "interior" and "natural" areas? Or maybe make it a cavestalker feat, rather than a spell.

Exactly. So why are some Devs not tagging, and some are?

Just inconsistent focuses. Some of the Underdark maps also probably pre-date the release of our teleportation-based magic.

If it's a concern, could you maybe shoot a short PM to the Associate Dev and DM Team groups with the names of the maps that you feel should be tagged for travel by plant (with brief justification)?

That has already been done. No response.

And if the above quote is exemplary of the QC view of things, then I guess those of us that think different are SOL.

Slightly off topic, but it has mushrooms!

If you can find the PM you sent, would you go ahead and send it to me? I can post it on the staff forums for review. If staff does feel it's not appropriate, though, then I'm not going to push it through myself. :P So if the general consensus is that it shouldn't be do-able it's probably not going to be do-able, you're right. But it doesn't hurt to review it.

Sorry Mac, I'd like to fulfill your request, but 2 things:

1) PMs have no ability to be searched and I cannot go through months of PMs to prove a point.
2) Rasael and others no longer respond to my PMs (for good reason!   ).

But, I can link you this:

Like most things, SOMEONE with authority just needs to be straightforward and give a final answer. That usually solves most issues.
