Barter Window - Why oh why.

The damned Barter Window.
We all been asked once maybe even a hundred times to help someone mule. What normally should be a pleasant quick task to help someone in need or one one of your friends is easily transformed into a Herculean task of keeping your composure and not punching a fist through your monitor. Every time the trade window cancels a barter after 6-7 items and what should have taken 2 minutes easily takes 10 you promise yourself next time: I will fake afk, I will actually go afk and watch tv or just reply no, full stop.
But basically what I am asking, is there a way to fix the barter Window?

It may be easier to put it in a campfire and have your friend pick the item out of that. I know this has come up before.

I fully agree.
Problem is, with the server being unstable that is a big risk, and taking a picture of everything your muling, you might ass well risk the damned barter window for times sake.

It is a MUCH more pleasant experience to put your items in storage, then only ask someone to mule your gold on the next reset. Use disguise tool to change your character name to something you will remember, but isn't one of your actual characters names (and preferably is short). For instance, disguise tool and make your name "Mule". Put all your items in that storage vault, then next time the server resets you just have to ask someone to mule your gold, finish your RCR then disguise your new PC as Mule to pick up your items. (remember to click the disguise toggle once finished to ensure your name doesn't get messed up)

100% best way!!! i even try to buy consumables i will be using anyway like kits or heal pots to take whatever gold down and sometimes just eat what else gets lost. obviously this wouldnt work if you have 10 million gold. but i dont really RcR high toons anyway. i have only RcR'd a couple times and it is low level toons 5-14. with only a ten or twenty thousand or less.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know why it closes?

If I recall correctly it has something to do with the auto-save feature or some other heartbeat type of thing. I know it was something that fixing it would require a worse bug to emerge...at least I think I know...AoS could probably say for sure.

Re Auto Save: You have two minutes to fulfill a barter from the time the first item is moved into the window.
Re General Closures: gui_* is being called often from unknown sources, closing the barter. Seems near correlative to the time someone logs on or off.

Does any other server display this kind of behaviour? The random closes from a gui call.
