Thaumaturge+ Palemaster

Unread post by Calen »

With the new changes does any one happen to know if you can have about a PM pet out and a Thaumaturge cohort?
I've been toying with the idea of making a summon based character.
Read you can have your cohort next to a summon out, but was wondering how this interacts with the PM pet.

I believe mechanically it is possible.

I might be able to test it... maybe.

Nope, cannot test it... one of my thaumaturges is only level 1 Palemaster.

I know I can summon 2 archons, familiar and animal companion. Well... it has to be in a certain order or things go wonky.

I dont see why you cannot summon a cohort and then summon an undead from palemaster.

Mechanically speaking.

A shame... such a combo would be quite potent.

Would like to test it but it would cost me 2x RCR, the offline module is semi broken so can't use that.
Maybe I'll bug a very bored DM about it for testing some day.

As far as I know.

You can have a cohort next to a normal summon + epic gate.

You cannot have a vampire next to a normal summon ((Can't check this))

You can have a summon+animal companion + gate.

Before the big overhaul you could have a cohort +vampire out, except that the cohort was useless aside from RP.

From a RP perspective and mechanical perspective it should be fine.
PM even gives access to diplomacy making Thaumaturge easier to reach.

Which reminds me ,it would be great if we could have some test area for builds on the server.
So much stuff just isn't clear, not working etc.

Well just ask if that's not clear, and be patient :P

Regarding JEGS module some things, particularly the summoning system, won't work in single player module.

Anyway to the question : Palemaster's summons use the summon slot, thus you can have a PM summon + a cohort out.

Thank for the clarification.
As for JEGS stuff like monk flaming fist/bear warrior/summons/blood mage/invisible needles and such do not work either.

One more question though.
Read that the current summons are scaling, is the vampire scaling as well or did it remained unchanged.

Monk flaming fist ? What ? :D

Flaming Fist patrolman is not available anymore just so you know, I'm intrigued by Bear warrior it should certainly work (and it works I just checked). Not sure which blood magus abilities you're referring to, some won't work, what doesn't work with invisible needle ? And what are such ?

PM summons have an overhaul pending, at the moment they are scaling yes. The new summons are a tad better than the previous versions.

Juggling between 3 versions, latest does have fiery fist working and yes bear warrior works on this one.
The old one kept stacking the stats and never showed the form, though it felt more complete with all the tooltips available/no language pop up and about all PRC available.

Though feats are lacking tooltips, but they work.
The constant language pop up, is it normal or is this a conflict caused by an older version?

Invisible needle: When you have a force spell memorized you can shoot a 1D4 damage a level needle.
Older versions gave a message you had no such spells memorized.
Now it doesn't but it deals no damage even if you have say Isaac's lesser missile memorized.

It's an ability mainly used for arcane tricksters sneak attack.

Thanks for the info though, going to try a few more things out.

For the tooltip go into your TLK folder, make a copy of your bg_s1.tlk file and rename that copy to bg.tlk, overwriting the former one. That should solve most of your issues.
