I know there was a "sayings and phrases" thread made some time ago, but it does not live in the appropriate Roleplaying Guides sub-section of the Forum. So below, I have placed the link to a comprehensive Glossary of Phrases, Sayings and Words from the Forgotten Realms:

Some fun selections (by me ):

“Baldurian” – Common:- a term applied to the collective folk of Baldur’s Gate, their work, study, beliefs, and customs, and to items of their making (Polyhedron #74)

“Brittle Bones” – Common:- a term for humans used by orcs (Polyhedron #74; also collated in Lore from the Sages)

“spellslinger” – Common:- a slang term for a mage (Magic of Faerûn by Sean K. Reynolds, Duane Maxwell, Angel McCoy)

“Whisper something in a Harper ear, and all Faerûn'll know it before the moon passes” – Common:- a folk saying (The Code of the Harpers by Ed Greenwood)

“Wizards? Avoid ‘em. Life’s better when ye’re not a frog” – Common:- an anonymous trail saying of the Sword Coast lands (Volo’s Guide to All Things Magical by Ed Greenwood, Eric L. Boyd)

Seriously though, thanks for posting this. Its really useful - and well worth being easily accessible on this forum.

So that when people get highnose about realms specific wording, trying to make others feel like roundskulls, their victims can just look it up and make them into kobolds.
