Cavalier Kit - Build Ideas

Unread post by Lighters »

Does this kit qualify for Improved Favored Enemy or Favored Power Attack?

Any chance of allowing Bane of Enemies?

As an aside, has anyone played one of these that can give me their opinion? The RP sounds fun, how bad is it mechanically?

I think kits are still disabled pending further testing?

However from the testing I did do on the Cavalier kit it does qualify for Favoured Power Attack & Improved Favoured enemy, meaning if you want your paladin to be a dragon & demon slayer -exclusively- you can spend all your favoured enemy feats on that line (FE: Dragon, FE: Outsider, IFE: Dragon, IFE: Outsider, FEPA: Dragon).

Only ranger 21 can qualify for Bane of Enemies so do not plan for it with such a paladin build.

A full Str Cavalier can get some really impressive DCs on Shield Slam, permitting an almost permanent 1v1 stun lock when combined with Shield Charge & (Improved) Knockdown, which is ideally how you want to build a Cavalier since they cannot get (Epic) Divine Might.

Subject: Cavalier (seems) is bugged !

According to this it sounds like they are working?

Thank you, that was how I kind of figured it work best. RP wise they sound like they may be interesting to play. Mechanically its probably better to just build a straight fighter using those shield/charge feats, right? The Favored Enemy part is really the unique flavor.

Nope. Cavalier 30 can do a better job than pure fighter because the paladin spellbook has two +STR spells which stack, giving a paladin a +8 bonus to str that a fighter cannot get, not to mention other useful buffs like Protection from Alignment, Divine Favor, Deathward, Holy/Lawful Sword, GMW and so on.

Can't remember exactly what my test build had but I think it ended on a buffed STR of 42 or something, which is +20 on the Improved Knockdown/Shield Charge check and DC 41 Shield Slam, both of which can be rotated on alternate rounds which is what gives it close to permanent 1v1 stunlock.

And yes, both divinate and cavalier are released. Not a lot of people have tested them or given feedback which is why they've gone relatively unnoticed, also since not many want to play paladins.
The wiki doesn't show all classes and Prestige classes does it? I can't recall having seen cavalier.

Also I am sure this had been asked but is there any chance we'll ever get mounts and mounted combat?

I guess it's fine though, in a way, if you don't want to play a paladin you'll never notice :p

I'll see if I can pull up the actual info somewhere...
Would be much appreciated to have the info for it... So there are kits that alter certain classes?

I only know kits from the original game to alter which should you pick etc

When you already started your character it can be a little late planning for the kit. The info should be on the wiki.

Yea would be cool also for other kits people like me might have missed... Gotta say I never paid attention to kits cause they never had any meaning in the main game.

Could the Server Rules and Content subforum get a topic titled 'Custom Base Class Kits' with the kits added as they come along? Because I did try to use the search on the wiki and no information popped up. It could help people to actually discover them...

I changed the name of the OP instead of starting a new thread. I hope that is kosher.

Would a build of 20 Paladin (Cavalier)/3 Cleric/7 Anointed Knight be viable mechanically? I am just not good at builds, per se, and especially with Paladins as I don't know their spellbook at all, nor stats to use on a build using a kit like this.

Class choices are for RP, but I think they would mesh together ok mechanically, right?

With Cleric you can pick back up the Turn Undead you lose as a Cavalier (with limited uses), and using the Law domain (common among Paladin gods) you get a prerequisite for AK. The other domain could likely pick up something useful as well.

AK nets you some DR, Alertness, Toughness, and Blind Fight. Brings up the Will saves. Opens Tumble.

Would something like this work? Would anyone want to help me shift it around if necessary, help me with starting stats, and/or help me build something similar?

My concept would be a Paladin of Red Knight (is that allowed here? I think it is a timeline anomaly but it seems there are some others playing it), barring that Helm or maybe Siamorphe would be an interesting one. Anyway, a people's champion/protector, holy knight of honor in action and deed.

I'm pretty sure cleric levels will not let you use Turn Undead. As soon as the feat is granted, the Cavalier scripts remove it from your feat list, even if it is granted by Cleric.

Even if it did 3 levels of cleric would not really allow for much turning at any point in time.... I suppose.

Wasn't cavalier usually something that wasn't tied to paladin and got no spells whatsoever?

Hijacking a thread for another topic isnt very Paladin like.

You seem to be more of the roguish type :D

Anointed Cavalier of Torm
(Human, Cavalier23,Rogue3,AnointedKnight4)
http://nwn2db.com/build/?265006 CL 27!

Just to make a start and get a concept.

Other ideas:

Cavalier of Aroveen (Strongheart Halfling, Cavalier26/Rogue4, CL 30)
Warrior Cavalier of Torm (Human, Cavalier23, Rogue3, Fighter3, CL 28)
Dragonslayer of Torm (Human, Cavalier21,Rogue3,DragonSlayer6,CL28, pick Improved Favore Enemy Dragons and Favored Power Attack)
