[Bug] Invisibility

Unread post by HamsterHyde »

Hello there,

The spell invisibility is bug and sometimes, creatures that are not supposed to see through it attack you. Before, it happened eventually, however in the last 2 days I've died due to this in 4 occassions.

Cheers!

A dwarven pirate under Ulgoths bear, one of this goblinoids un the 3rd level of the Cloakwood mines, a giant in Nashkel mountains, and... I think the other one was an orc in Sharp Tooth.

Did you cast invisibility right under their nose ? With an unfortunate timing there's a possibility where you'll remain on their enemy list for one round before not being perceived anymore (and thus not attackable).

Also don't some mobs randomly get see invisibility? I thought this was always the case.

I can confirm the goblinoids in cloakwood mines, 3rd level. I was already invisible and one just saw straight through.

Chad's explanation might explain that though.

Well. I was invisible 'before' I encounter them. And then during the encounter I cast invisibility again. They stop following for a second but then attack again. A little weird if you ask.

Same with me. I was already invisible, and when he caught up he actually attacked me. It was no biggy in this case, but I can imagine it killing you if you're not prepared for it.

Some very random creature gets a see invisibility perk. It's to prevent the opportunity to visit the whole server with a level 2 spell iirc.

And to avoid level 2 players being able to earn 10,000 XP in a week risk free by doing the quests. You can use invisibility and often you can go to areas far above your CR by doing so. However, there is still risk that a random mob will see through said invisibility so it is recommended you have an escape plan for such a scenario.

Yeah so Wyverns, Giant Commanders and some Frost Giants have see invis. All dragons should have this as well. Goblins not usually though. That would be a case of where they were hostile beforehand and very rarely a bug but it is easy to avoid by just toggling your parry mode and stopping. I repeat toggle parry. This stops you from AUTO ATTACKING WHEN ATTACKED. Which was what most likely caused you to get spotted after they attacked you and you auto attacked back which would break your invis. I have it happen rarely with the spell greater sanctuary too. Just knowing what is happening doing the correct things will help.

There is a way to work around these mobs that van see through your invisibility spell.

Step one: Flee behind a corner to break line of sight.

Step two: Hit the hide button.

Step three: If you did it fast enough, the mob will stop in its tracks and you can unhide and continue running towards safety. Just be mindful that if you do return to the mob's line of sight, it will pursue anew.

Does this one work even if you're a standard wizard with no hide investment?
