Wiki,Forum,Ingame Mistakes regarding Archmage

Hello,

i ve met already two players who rely on the information the wiki and forum gave about the PRC Archmage.

Regarding Spellpower I/II/III it states that it only gives +1 spellpower for each level instead giving +1 for Spellpower I, +2 for Spellpower II, +3 for Spellpower III. Can someone check this? I am quite sure it gives more spellpower than 1 for the higher Spellpower picks.

Spelllike Ability High Arcana doesnt say anything about loosing spellslots. It should loose one 5th lvl spell slot (for the High Arcana) and then one spell slot the same level as the level of the spelllike Ability. Can someone check that too?

A player told me that he could choose an epic spell as High Arcana, but just one. Nothing about that in any description. Can someone verify that?

Spell power I, II, III have all the same effect, they give you +1 CL.

High Arcana Spell like ability should only make you lose one spell slot of the level of the spell you picked.

As for epic spell on an high arcana feat that is not supposed to happen at all but I can see a discrepancy in the file for one epic spell, won't be true after next update.

Thanks for your verification and quick response, Valefort.

I played an archmage myself two years ago. I am quite sure the High Arcana Spellpower was handled different. It gave +2 CL for Spellpower II and +3 CL for Spellpower III. Considering the effort you have to undertake to qualify for Archmage and the sacrife you make (7th level spell slot for Spellpower II, 9th level spellslot for Spellpower III) it seems to be a mistake to lessen the CL from those High Arcana. Maybe something went wrong in the past (mistaken Archmage Spellpower II and III for Hierophant Spellpower)? The Pen and Paper Archmage class also gives the higher Caster Levels for Spellpower II and III, thats the reason you sacrifice higher spell levels and can take Spellpower III only on lvl 8 or 10 Archmage on this server.

Regarding Spelllike Ability as High Arcana, i am also sure you ve lost a 5th grade spell in additon to one spell slot of the same level as the spelllike ability. Thats also the way it is handled in Pen&Paper.

Have those things changed in the past? You cant build a high DC Wizard anymore without some evilish PRC then (ShadowAdept,BloodMagus,RedWizard). Since you are missing the CL above 30 and therefore the extra DC on your spells.

Spell power I, II, III are cumulative if you have the three feats then you get +3 CL overall.

As for the SLA you used to lose a 5th level spell slot but it was deemed too costly and removed some time ago (when exactly I can't say, something like 2 years ago). As for your conclusion it is true, evilish arcane PRCs are quite superior power wise, which I find pretty unfair but that's another debate.

That said even without SA/Red Wizard/ Blood Mage you can already reach very high DCs, the difference is 1-2 points.

Feels sad to take the high magic out of the Archmage... more a Hedge Wizard :lol:

Caster Clerics with Divine Spellpower and Advanced Divine Spellpower & Master of Energy can get easily 38 CL. Uniquely to the Wizard/Sorcerer Spell list is Mordenkainens Disjunction. You could still breach some spells, as this is an automatic function of the spell; but you can never dispel that Bull“s Strength on a Cleric. And of course you cant counterspell that Implosion spell (counterspelling was also best with Mordenkainen and CL)..... Seems Clerics are nowadays even better in spell battles .

Perhaps sometimes the Weave will be restored to its former glory.... Archmage was already made 10 lvl class instead of 5 lvl class. And Spellpower III and Mastery of Energy is only pickable on lvl 8 and 10.... to reduce Class combinations....

Please rename it Hedge Wizard :lol:
