Puddleboots Predicament - Merchant Guards

When I approached 'Laysack' he had 4 Merchant guards standing behind him. Two of them turned hostile with Laysack, and the two that didn't one them seemed to be injured from a previous encounter with a questing adventurer. It seems that guards might not despawn or aggro properly - if Laysack is killed and the guards are not.

I talked my way out of the fight, Lysack dissapeared, his guards stayed, i fried them with a fireball for some XP.

Without some AoE spell, you cannot attack the guards, and today I saw something like 8 merchant guards there.

You mean he actually has guards now? Huh. Last time I ran that quest he didnt even have guards. xD
