A simple sheet of vellum finds itself pinned to the bulletin board set afore the Elfsong Tavern in Baldur's Gate easternmost district. In a careful script, it reads:
"Seeking to sell a battleaxe of masterful make, imbued with enchantments offering such might to the wielder a mere graze with the blade ought shatter bone.
As I value my time, I prefer not to count through scores of bags, and would appreciate payment in form of ten-pound gold trade bars, minted with proper seals, as one would in no doubt find available from any respectable trading company.*
I trust a fair starting bid to be at least eighty such trade bars. Please mark your offer below, and leave sufficient information for contact with fair Lady Alyth of the Elfsong if I am personally unavailable to receive such within my room.
Respectfully,
Thotamesis al-Nyth"
The message occupies perhaps a third the span of the vellum, leaving blank space below for potential buyers to mark their current bid in courtesy of those wishing to compete.
((*As trade bars are obviously unavailable as in-game currency for large exchanges, calculation is made on 1000 gp = 2 ten-pound gold bars))
