Should I add linked accounts?

Since this is an RP forum, some people have multiple accounts (to hide all their shady businesses, no doubt. Yes, all you supposed do-gooders are just as shady ).

Would it interest you all to have a way to link those accounts, so you only have to log in once? It would most likely work in a way that you can select which account to use from a dropdown.

I'm not making promises yet, as I've still got to test the functionality and see if it's secure, but it might be possible. But I have no interest in seeing if it's worth the effort, if people aren't interested, or if there are some big glaring issues I've missed in my line of thinking.

It would work as follows:

• You have the ability to link your own accounts.
• You can switch through said accounts with a dropdown somewhere in the header ( I think )
• Nobody can see your linked accounts ( except perhaps the Global Admins and HDMs? Not sure yet )
• Linked accounts are voluntary. You can link your accounts if you want, but don't have to.

Anyway, I'll ofcourse also check that when you link an account, that data will stay hidden from all others. Otherwise it's no use at all.

pretty weird to me to think that people have separate accts because they are doing something nefarious and dont want their main's to be implicated on the alt's actions. the whole thing is make-believe. just seems weird. i have two accts so if a friend is over and wants to play we can run around together and kill monsters.

anyway yes so i can have my life a tad bit easier.

Well, DM's have separate accounts from their players names.

Some guilds membership is secret and so they create an account so as not to have people meta a characters membership within said guild (and often it is actually a guild rule that you have to create a different forum name for your guild access).

Of course, there are those who create sub-accounts simply to troll, or skew forum votes or whatever, but I prefer to think of that as being a very small population (however naive that may be )

There are some people who have good reason to keep their accounts separate to avoid any attention on a side account where they don't get such attention and can keep things fresh and small without any preconceptions or unwanted interaction, I imagine that DMs would get messages on their player accounts when they are trying to roleplay or that developers with the same.

So I think maybe have it set up so admins/dms can see the linked accounts but leave it down to the players themselves to publicly reveal split accounts.
