So... Can you infect me?

Unread post by Moltrazahn »

I bet that topic got you curious! <:D

Okay, so... This is an most likely entirely personal flavor-thing. But the thing is, being that I don't even know if it's possible, is that I have to ask about it!

*Yay, information serching!*

So! Kobolds have this thing, where that you can get "infected" or "Diseased" by being close to them. I assume it's a low DC, given it's a low level mob in general. However, along with the nice visual effect, you also get a minor stat negative modifier.

My question is...

Is it possible to get this effect, permenantly, on a character?
This, ofcause, along with the actual disease (and visual).

I play a character, who is a fanatic worshipper of Yurtrus, and Talona. So... Mr. and Mrs. Plague. And where he does have blackguard for the negative aura... having a non-dispellable misty kobold cloud just would fit him ideally ^^.

I know it would be most'ly gimping the character... But I think it could be fun. Also, would save me from all those HUGS my orc keeps getting, I mean, Seriously people!

#Knowmyfakepain

Either way, aside from asking for snowflaky question... which is rather character specific, I figured id first ask if its even possible to have as a "permenant" effect. Primarily, I'm asking because It would fit the character. Also, I know it's gimping him, rather than empowering.

Anywho, anyone know if such things can be added permenantly? And even if, if it could ever be allowed.

Consider it a discussion on negative modifiers could be added to PC's. If it does not corrupt the characterfile beyond repair... As long as it's not buffing or empowering them, right? I mean, I once had a duregar Charisma lowered to 2 permenatly. Which was great for stat-rolls! made a drow throw up in their mouth, priceless fun!

ps. I know I could "Just stand around kobolds" for the effect to eventually pop. But that would take too long for it to be an ideal plan xP

Kobolds actually have some On-Hit disease weapon (the broken bottle wielders I think?). Quite annoying for that level range.

Other creatures have the plague-aura thing of the same, eg. ghouls, ghasts, tyrantfog zombies, UD myconids, hezrous and probably others. The only way to get it as a VFX is if a DM gives it to you for a temporary timer (ie, not permanent); your char's .bic is edited to have the plague-aura ability from one of the above-mentioned mobs; an item is created with the ability on it for you to use x/day; or a new PRC is invented with the ability as some kind of feat/ability.

Hmm I see. Well, the idea was to get both the VFX (ei: don't get close to this guy) and some low dc-chance of a low-risk infection from proximity. Granted, my orc should suffer this effect as well, even permenantly.

I suggested Kobolds given they were the lowest (risk?) level mob with a aura-disease I knew of. So to avoid infecting every low level character I'd come into contact with.

Sounds like the kind of thing the DMs would have to approve after a lengthy stint of RP for the same end. Wouldn't hurt to give them a poke about it, perhaps?

That would be the general idea. First I had to figure out if it would be possible, and not "too much of a hassle" to avoid the special treatment issue that tend to follow such kind of requests.

So if I get you right... An item would have to be made, that would, on use. Apply a contagion on the caster, which would also gife the stank-cloud effect and negatives.

Sounds very "scripty". Is it possible? And how much of a job are we talking...? I can't script for the life of me, so I'm always concerned when it's someone elses free-time I'd be asking for.

It's already a static creature hide property that the mobs with it have and it can be made into a toggleable feat, similar to the one that Sigil's Hezrou Ravager gains as a racial ability.

The vfx can be added on a weapon under special effects in the tool set. It can be done but it would be up to the staff :)
