Forum Fonts etc

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if we could not add a few more fonts to the forums. They are used for art and a lot of writing so why not enable us all to make our writing feel more alive and give us more options to play with.

Not sure how others feel about it but I think It'd be great for IC posts too.

100% Agree

The effort of finding some parchment, doing a picture.. then.. oh it goes on

I can add an option to add web-safe, default fonts.
But perhaps I can also make a code to add an actual parchment ....
Would that be even more desirable?

( that would be akin to adding a quote in difficulty )

Doesn't take that long to make a parchment if you've a decent template. I simply plug the img into MS Paint and use my custom font selection (including Espruar, Dethek & Draconic!) to write the text I want. The hard part can be getting a decent image hosting program that isn't offline every second day (yeah, looking at you Photobucket...)

Use postimage.org. Never failed me. You don't even have to register to use it.

And yup all for new fonts, parchments etc.

I'll see what I can do then :-)

For a start, I've added default fonts. You should be able to add default fonts now for your own use. I'm looking for adding a nice fantasy font as well, something that looks handwritten. But since those aren't default on all computers, I need to add it to the website beforehand. So that's still in the make! :-)

However, for now you can use default fonts, such as
Papyrus, Arial, Comic Sans, Helvetica, etc. For reference, check here, or here.

In this example (as well as the text I'm writing in), we're using Helvetica.

The syntax is:

Code: Select all

Your text here

I'll PM you in the morning, Zanniej, about the names of some funky FR-specific fonts like Espruar, Thorass, Dethek & Draconic, assuming you'd like to add those too maybe? 8-)

Looking forward to it, assuming I can add them. But I'm not sure I can, since I don't know if anyone has ever taken the time to convert them to fonts. Added to that, it might create huge load times.
But I love hearing what you have! :-)

It is, but it isn't very legible by default. You'd have to make it a bit bigger at least.
Still awesome to have! :-)

In case you don't want to pick a specific font, you can go for the following:

This is a font with Serif. You can pick it by typing

Code: Select all

You can also use it in bold and cursive or both!

This is a font sans-serif. You can pick it by typing

Code: Select all

You can also use it in bold and cursive or both!

This is a default cursive font. You can pick it by typing

Code: Select all

You can also use it in bold and cursive or both!

This is a default fantasy font. You can pick it by typing

Code: Select all

You can also use it in bold and cursive or both!

This is a font in Monospace. You can pick it by typing

Code: Select all

You can also use it in bold and cursive or both!

All of these examples will pick the default font for each computer. That does mean that it might differ on different computers, and with different viewers however.

Nice very nice like the cursive one especially, the parchment would be cool as well... Hadn't seen how much had happened here... Very cool and fast work Sire.
