Evermead in the coast?

Hey, so I have a question regarding Evermead. It is supposed to be rare, but it is possible to purchase it easily ingame.

Do we play our sheet as having it readily available, or we play as if it a rare commodity which is hardly obtainable despite the mechanical options?

It was an unfortunate oversight, but vendors like that also do not follow the rules of supply and demand. If you wanted you could buy as much bottles as you had coin and inventory spaces and then some. In that case I think you could just rp its rarity, as Evermead is only really available in elven territories.

Definitely agree with Tantive, treat it as a rare commodity.

Wondering if the availability is linked to this DM post from a month or so ago, though - I don't have any IC or OOC knowledge of the background to it.

Evermead is flowing in the city of Baldur's Gate. Evemead the highest prized liquor consumed by elves is created through a process which remains unknown. It is however rumored to be aged for centuries before consumption. Which brings some to question how so much of the liquor is available at such a low price. Either way, no one is complaining. A single sip of this fine drink is said to be like tasting the higher planes themselves

Question is, is it rare to the point I can have it IC and it is rare, or is it so rare I caanot even get my hands on it without DM approval or some special circumstances?

I would say you could get it pretty easily in Baldur's Gate until a DM says otherwise.

There was a DM post about the rare Evermead making its way to BG in great quantities recently for some reason. So right now. IT IS PLENTIFUL UNTIL IT IS NOT.

It would be neat to see evermeed only sold in one or two spots.

However there is/was a DM plot line regarding this that is about 3 months long and the above post was related to it. So what ever is done. Player action should be accounted for. Which is kinda easy to do.

Think this is hard to mechanically regulate. Would need to be an RP based thing. I mean one could support its rarity by making it very expensive outside the elven territory but even then people could just visit these and buy tons of it.

To be honest, My char buys Evermead in Taverns, OOC'ly I was curious if I can use the IC Evermead as real evermead for rp :P

Seems like so far, as long as I stock on enough, its fine :D unless someone corrects me :X

Be careful not to buy that cheap imitation stuff they sell in the city taverns....it's no where's close to the real stuff.

True story, the end of that particular plotline of the "cheap evermead" was that the stuff was unequivocally a fake. We ended up calling it Nevermead, and got trashed anyway.

Considering the lore around Evermead, I'd personally be willing to damn the mechanics on this, and RP out that the stuff you can buy from vendors, etc is not the real deal. But... RP it as you see fit!

Would actually be nice if the DM's could rule about this, Considering the lore aroudn the drink it is abit buffling I can buy a bottle for 30 coins in many taverns :P
