Finneaus Du'Veil - Oddities in the Wide

An average looking man that most would not give a second look - indeed perhaps not lingering on the first - is seen setting up shop in the wide. A cloak with the hood drawn up puts most of his features in shadow, but he is wearing a bright red tunic with gold filigree and a broach fashioned in the symbol of Waukeen to hold his cloak in place. He seems to have mostly human features aside from cat-like yellow eyes which seem to have a glow beneath the cowl of his hood, which would indicate a likely infernal or demonic lineage.

If conversed with he would explain he is a gem merchant cut off from his suppliers in the South due to what he considers a mysterious disappearance of the most recent boat which was to deliver an assortment of rare gems. In the meanwhile he has resorted to trading in the less lucrative business of weapons, armor and other items which adventurers may have a use for. He makes it known that being a wholesaler of gems that he will assign value for any adventurer wishing to trade in gems for items, but will also consider offers of gold or even equal or greater valued items.

As might be expected from a gem merchant, the supply of gear is rather limited, but the keen eyed adventurer who spends a few moments perusing his goods would quickly note that there are several unique items that may be of use.

///OOC: Offers may be made in gems, gold or trade goods. An offer may be accepted, counter-offered, or outright denied. If more than one offer is made on an item before I respond the RP will be as if the two (or more) parties are there at the same time and the highest bid will be the one considered.

A hooded air genasi approaches Finneaus, staring without expression at him into the eyes. A moment after, he leans to whisper to him, pointing at the Briarspike Spear.

A man known to Finneaus approaches him. He stares at the wares for quite a long time, then flatly asks:
"How much for the ring?"

After holding a quiet conversation with the hooded Air Genasi, the Merchant Finn would turn and offer a smile to his previous acquaintance and a small nod.

"Well met my friend, tis a fine ring, is it not? What say you to 30 bags? Or mayhap you have gems of value for trade? Or similarly enchanted items perhaps?

He then turns to the large, dark armored and tattooed face and is forced to catch his breath a moment before responding.

"My word, aren't you a large one then? It appears you have found the prize of my entire collection, haven't you? That is a very fine piece indeed, why for many a warrior-priest it might be their favorite possession. . . were they to possess it, of course!" He grins at the man a moment. "For that piece I hope to earn the coin to charter a new vessel and reestablish my connection to my suppliers in the South, what say you to 250 bags of coin sir? I think you will agree it is quite the unique shield and I would be a fool to sell it for less a profit, yes? Of course if you have any gems of value I would be happy to appraise and accept them as partial payment... Or should you have valuables to trade we might consider striking a deal."

After having a quiet discussion with the Orange Man, the Merchant Finn turns to the swiftly growing crowd of adventurers and makes a calming gesture before announcing "There is currently an offer on the table for the Shield of Grace of 200 bags and a Star Sapphire gem, as well as an offer for the Briarspike spear of 125 bags."
Nodding to the Tiefling woman with a smile he states to the crowd "and yonder miss holds the top bid on the Ring of Intelligence at 35 bags."

He then looks in turn at the Air Genasi, his acquaintance and the man in the dark suit of armor before intoning. "Seeing as you three were here first, I feel it only right to give you the opportunity to beat these offers. What say you?"

He glares at the intruding tiefling for a moment, then gives a simple "Hmrph" and walks off without another word.

Artim, the Procurer of Tales, with a carefree bounce in his step, pleases himself with giving attention to the goings on in the Wide, centered around the merchant Finneaus (though Artim would not know this man, nor his name).

Seeing the exchange or non-exchange occur between two persons, over a ring, Artim himself takes a look at said item, and appraises its worth with an ease of a merchant of some skill.

"Good sir, is this ring sitting with an offer of thirty-five thousand coin? Well then...I would raise that offer to forty-five thousand!"

The merchant blinks his yellow eyes as Artim proclaims the offer, then dips a small bow to him.

"Well met, sir. Your bid is noted, how convenient that you came along as the original man wandered off."

Finn then looks over at the rapier wearing Tiefling woman.

"And you, fair one? Would you wish to further counter this mans bid? A ring such as this was surely made for the fine finger of a woman's hand, after all!"

He smiles mischievously at her, awaiting response.

Her irritated gaze dialed into the new bidder slowly moves back into the direction of the auctioneer. seemingly pondering the bid, she taps her fingers on a rapier handle. she then reaches behind the front fold of her colorful top withdrawing a deck of fine painted cards. she then looks back toward the opposing bidder again and beckons, "'ow bouta gameo'chance? ya win, an i wonna be biddin dat ring up onya. ma win, an ya take back yer bid an walk 'way. 'ow ya say laddie?

Artim responds:

"A game of chance, you say? Something that you wish we play, this day, in some way, for one to say, they have won their way? I am curious, good woman...what game are you offering?"

looking at her cards as they deftly twirl in her hands. shuffling and sorting with the agile movements of an experienced card handler. her chin lifts up toward the cards without even the slightest pause to the card trickery. as her chin lifts slowly toward the opposing bidder a smile lifts the corners of her toothy mouth as she says, "'ow bout we ba keepin sim'pal. ma wonna wan folks tinkin ma cheatin an ol man now wou we. 'igh card be stayin put, low card be walkin. sound like an agreement?" the shuffling stops quickly waiting for a response.
