Suggestion: Epic undead summon.

This is inspired of (yet another) post about trying to buff the CGU. I personally dont think CGU is needing any buff. However... maybe what could be a good/cool addition would be a gate-equivilant version of an undead creature? For all those necro-summoners out there.

Something like Boneguards (icewind dale 2), lich, spectre or some such.

Another thing could be, if it didnt take up the summon slot. That way (again, appealing to necromancers) you could have 2 undead minions going at once.

Just a suggestion! Maybe worth a debate?

Disclaimer. Not saying we have to buff anything. Mearly to give some more flavor to our already expansive arsenal of summons.

an epic summon already exists, mummy dust but its a point of debate if it should be enabled (its already on nwn2)

What are the stats & abilities which make it debateable?

maybe the duration 24 hours instead of 40 round is considered perma Summon?

nothing really honestly, only the feat for the spell and the weapons the mummy uses in nwn1 are actually in the nwn2 toolset, the mummy has to be recreated

i did it a few years ago but luna was against it (and then of course all summons got cut short after anyway), and it just came back up a little bit ago

24 hrs isnt that long when you consider control undead is 30-60 hrs

with a chance that the lich gets pissed at a mere mortal summoning him and drops a Vampiric Feast on the summoner! :twisted:

well its only a mummy not a lich :P

and its a warrior one at that so no spells...

The only mummy summon I know totally sucks... It's that mummy just much stronger?

an epic undead would be amazing. an epic mummy would have some very powerful spell like abilities that would be really cool. especially if they are not enemy only. maybe a req like stat int or cha 28 or higher and SGU/CGU.

i think it would be really cool if we could pick which undead we summoned from animate and summon undead once they become available. its not really like gate, where you open a gate and whatever comes through is yours. this is preparation of specific ingredients and magical/mystical procedure.

epic spell undead well now we know it is a evil spells right so how about make a a good epic spell?

a mummy is a mummy so wouldnt particularly have anything a typical mummy wouldnt have, the build is what would make it different

and there wouldnt be anything to pick from... its mummy dust, you get a mummy

if you mean the normal CU mummy, something got missed in the update and they werent updated player side, should be done next update when the scripts are updated - but atm yea normal CU and GCU are still the old summons

i wasnt asking for in regards to the epic mummy. i was asking for the animate dead spell and summon undead spells and spell like abilities.

What randomness is that? Our version of gate is only the calling creature part, you name a creature type or specific creature and a gate opens to its location and pulls it through.

There is a reason why there is no Summon Good Elf spells... Create undead is designed for not good people. Evil always has a leg up on good.

When we keep trying to give everyone something equivalent, it takes away from the entire theme of things.

Yes, we have summon spells... yes, we have planar binding... with all of those we have neutral stuff..... then we have good/evil stuff respectfully.

Let's not keep up with the "everything evil must have good for balance" entitlement.


Can planar binding summon good or evil creatures? Yes. So having an option for both makes sense. Can you summon pretty much anything with the proper hit dice with summon monster? Yes... so put in more critters.

Is there a summon good critter spell that balances out the create undead? Not to my knowledge, but then again, I haven't googled 3.5 rules in a while.

Epic spells... that is something different entirely. If we want to put in epic summon spells... then we can just do with one Epic Summon spell after certain criteria is met (like we talked about a couple of months ago).

Make Augment Summon and Epic Gate a requirement and bring in an Epic Summon that lasts a while (and is affected by thaumaturge to bring more value to the class). This summon could be undead, planar being, other critters like beholders or mindflayers, etc.
If the text is this color, I am on duty, everything else is just my humble opinion.
