New High Arcana - Improved Familiar feat

I would like to propose that the new 'Improved Familiar' feat be provided as a choice of 'High Arcana' for an Archmage. It wasn't available when the class was made, and I would argue that it is perfectly suited as an option.
Mechanically, I do not believe it would ruin the balance of the class. The concept seems mostly RP-based and the familiar's SLA comes with the threat of exposing a familiar to danger. Compared to adjusting the elemental properties, improving CL, or preventing AoE spells from injuring party members, this is pretty low-key.
Flavor-wise I think it would bring a great deal. Archmages are said to be among the Art's "most advanced practitioners" who "choose a more solitary path, often eschewing society to study in solitude". What better class to encompass the mage's desire for a more advanced familiar, whom better to have a quasit, mephit, or faerie dragon at their side?
Anyone in QC see balance concerns? Any devs willing to make the changes?
