Heya guys,

I tried searching the forum for my specific question and couldn't find anything on it.

Does contingent summoning work with the binding spells as well or solely the summoning spells?

Does it still summon creatures of the 9th level spells? (seemed like this would be very much overpowered)

Sorry if these seem to be silly questions or if they have been answered already elsewhere but especially the part about the binding planar binding etc spells I didn't see anywhere in my search.

I think the duration of that feat is bugged. It seems to be always last lesser then a few minutes even when cast a 1min/level spell.

But it still summons an elemental according to the 9th level spell?

Do planar bindings work with it?

I've not had any luck with Contingent Summoning working with Greater Planar Binding Ally. (I don't think I've tried regular Planar Binding Ally).

It does work with Summon Monster IX.

It works with Greater Planar Binding. I use it daily. Since it uses the "highest" summoning spell and considers Summon Creature to be above the binding spells, I had to unlearn Summon Creature 8 and 9 for it to use Greater Planar Binding.

I'm not sure if Greater Planar Ally works yet?

Pimple has the right of it. It works with the planar spells, but prioritize the summon creature spells. Pretty sure the duration works as intended as I use the feat all the time. And Greater Planar Ally works now.

How does Contingent Summoning interact with:

1. Extend Spell (ex. Extended Greater Planar Ally)

2. Augment Summoning

3: Extended Summoning

5: Planar Cohort

It doesn't. It is not using a memorized spell.

It should work, and I'm pretty sure it does. But, as it favors the summon creature spells over planar calling spells, and the summon creature spells aren't valid for cohort, I've never actually tried it.

Contingent Summoning sort of worked with Greater Planar Ally... but it performed a Summon Monster IX instead (even though no Summon Monster was memorized)

It doesn't go by what is memorized but what is known. Which isn't ideal.

And despite what the description may say you can still use it without memorizing any summoning spells.

Specifics: A 4th-level thaumaturgist can prepare a summoning or calling spell ahead of time. He gains the spell like ability to use the highest known summoning spell once per day as a spell like ability. If no summoning spell is known the ability doesn't work. The Gate Spell series is not affected.

It does exactly what the description says it does in that regard. Think of it as an extra spell slot that is automatically used to memorize your highest known summoning spell.

Correct, so you could delete Summon IX and Summon VIII so you can contingent summon GPA

A cleric can't delete a known spell, and the in-game class description of the feat is different.

Is it intended that Contingent Summoning uses the highest level summoning spell known rather than highest level summoning spell memorized? The description says memorized, but my cleric thaumaturge seems only able to pull the Summon Creature list when she uses Contingent Summoning, even though she only has Planar Ally memorized.

Yes, that is intended. It picks from a prioritized list of known spells.
