does (massive critical) stack

i was wondering if massive critical from different applications will stack? there are class skills, feats and enchantments that provide this and it is all called the same thing. often if it ois called the same thing it doesnt stack ex.sneak attack.

To my knowledge they do not stack. Hence the reason Overwhelming critical is rather lack luster to try and build for because of the amount of massive critical weapons that exist and the rather high requirement of overwhelming critical to put on a build and since WMs are already feat starved it is not used.

Still not sure if the Massive Critical is applied before multiplier or after multiplier though. Some say it is your (damage+str+massive crit)XWeapon multiplier = final hit and others say it is ((dmg+str)Xweapon multi)+massive crit = final damage. So really I figure it is really not all that important but nice if you can get it on a weapon.

wouldnt a scripter with knowledge/access to the algorithm be able to answer that.

It's nothing accessible sorry, all in the black box of combat engine. I don't think they stack, the highest value is probably applied.

doesnt stack that i remember, and its a type of bonus damage, so its applied after the fact

not sure id call overwhelming crit lack luster tho it depends on the weapon if its even worth it because the damage scales off of the weapons crit multiplier, so if you are using something that is only a x2 then no probably not

tho my halberd WM having a x4 its pretty nice

ok. i imagined that the combat algorithm was accessible. is there a parser available for this game?

Greataxe with 1d6 crit will make the

crit (normal damage x 3 ) + (1d6 x 3)

or

crit (normal damage x 3) +(1d6) ????

(Normal damage x 3) + 2d6.

Multipier determines massive critical 1d6 like this:
x2: 1d6
x3: 2d6
x4: 3d6
x5: 4d6

Thanks a lot! this really help...btw Deathgrowl, its been more than 48 hours that i bid for your boots of speed 10 bags ;)

If you're talking about the item property then I am pretty sure it's only 1d6 regardless of the multiplier. There are special feats that add more massive crit if the multiplier is higher.

So:

1d6 massive crit (item property) + any weapon = 1d6 more damage on a crit

Overwhelming critical + scimitar = 1d6 massive crit = 1d6 more damage on a crit
Overwhelming critical + handaxe = 2d6 massive crit = 2d6 more damage on a crit

Btw, criticals are not strictly 'normal damage x3', or whatever your critical multiplier is. 'Static' damage is flatly multiplied, eg. +EB damage, + Feat Damage (Weapon Spec) + Magic/Physical/Divine Damage, but all dice roll-based weapon damage, eg. 1d6, 1d8, 1d10, 1d12 etc, is rerolled a number of times according to the critical multiplier. A Katana WM would roll (3d10) + (Static damage x3) + (Elemental/Negative Damage) + (Massive Critical Damage).

what i experience from an item enchantment is similar to what metelener posted. 1d6 masscrit gives d6 on crit no matter the multiplier. i am not sure what happens with AK's massive crit though. it very well might work in a manner more like tsid gave.

would it be game breaking to have this stack? it could turn underwhelming critical into something more desirable. and that would be good.

like i said, its bonus damage

the property is going to be that damage regardless, only the feat changes with multiplier and there is no real reason to let them stack

the only bonus damage that stacks is sneak attack
