New Player trying to connect

Hello,
I'm new and stuff
What Ho Adventures!
While inspecting the latest crop of apples at a merchant stall you feel a slight tug at your cloak, You turn around and find the local skell, HauteCarl.
Noting the filth of beggary upon him, (his clothes really are quite tattered) you attempt to quickly take a step back and turn away but find yourself facing the cretin once again. Wasn't he just behind you? You look back. Yes he is behind you.... and in front of you.
You tilt your head in the direction of the merchant behind the counter in an attempt to ignore this persistent gnat beggar but notice the merchant is.. HauteCarl.. Suddenly, a notion of panic arises in the recesses of your mind. Doppelganger? But just as quickly as the thought crosses your mind it is assuaged by the remembrance of the tiny bell trinket you carry just beneath your shirt, a gift long ago from a grateful village mayor which detects all sort of nasty abominations including doppelgangers. The trinket has not changed its temperature, your mind eases, you relax,
and then you realize that all of the apples are now rows upon stacks upon piles of the face of HauteCarl and no matter which way you turn you cannot escape.
Taking a deep breath you mutter to yourself, Gods why me?
You grudgingly decide to hear the bastard out.
His diatribe begins, thusly.
I was able to connect to the server initially and it downloaded the extra files (successfully I think) When I try to connect now I receive the following error.
Attempting to Find Server IP address: port
Connection Error
Server is not responding. (Timed Out)
I can ping the server by IP so it seems related to the game client and not the network.
What should I do?
I am using a copy I just purchased from Gog with Cd-keys from my account there, do I need to get different keys from Gog.com? Should I reinstall?
Also, If I need to reinstall, is their a way to acquire the downloads files directly and apply them to the game directory rather than download them through the client?
Thank you.
