Harper mage/bard attempt

Unread post by roderickz »

With the recent changes I tried coming up with a Harper bard using the Harper Mage PrC: http://nwn2db.com/build/?269999 (Negotiator is there replacing Alertness so I can get HA in the builder)

I'd really appreciate if you guys could help me improve it!

Seems fine, but personally I'd go for chorus of heroism over epic prowess.

Well I want Harper for RP reasons, which leaves me divided between Harper Agent (which provides, well, nothing substantial) and Harper Mage, which at least grants some boons. Do you think it's not worth it? I know I'm sacrificing 1 bab and a slightly weaker hit die, but...

It's totally fine power wise, you won't have any issue. Harper Mage arguably doesn't bring much to Bards but (yay access to spot) you don't exactly lose much either, lack of chorus of heroism is tragic though !

As chad suggested, do you think swapping Epic Prowess for CoH might be better? I'm divided.

You can't, epic prowess is on a divine champion bonus feat. Also you get song of heroism very late, I would delay the last 2 dissonant chord levels as late as possible, drop toughness and steadfast, take power attack for damage, blind-fight for usefulness then drop one STR or even two to take..

In fact, like this : http://nwn2db.com/build/?270074

Curse song is bard level dependant so taking it early is useless, same for mords from dissonant chord, you have nothing to dispel anyway. On the other hand you can use the bonus damage from PA, toughness + steadfast are luxury feats that you cant' really afford in my opinion, other than that I just lower the STR by two, one less great STR and one less STR at pointbuy, taking more INT for more skills.
